Recap:

The police tell David that they're going to give up searching for Cassie's body. Headmaster David Tyrel informs the gathered students, who take the news rather less seriously than Thelma would like. When Ella joins in with their joking around, Thelma storms off in a huff.

Ella goes after her. Thelma's still clearly upset about Cassie's death. Ella tells her they have to work together to find Malachi. Thelma wants no part of it but then a predator-like shape appears in the sky and the trees around it burst in to flame. Ella stands transfixed and Thelma has to drag her to safety.

Ella explains that the Seraph must have slipped through the gates of chaos opened by Malachi's birth and subsequent survival. They eat souls, but only pure souls, belonging to virgins. She must kill this one before it do any harm.

Ella elects to use a virgin as bait, and picks Leon as the best candidate from amongst the students. During a Judo lesson she pins him to the floor and asks him out.

As Leon frets about what to wear on the date, and Roxanne takes the piss, Ella explains to Thelma why she's choosing to attack the Seraph rather than go after Azazeal. She reveals that she still has the amber Stone of Belial from Episode Two. It's a weapon which Malachi needs to fulfil his destiny and Azazeal will want it back. She hides it in the fireplace of her room before venturing out on her date.

As Leon and Ella chat in a swanky cocktail bar, Thelma watches in tears as Jo Watkins and David Tyrel pack Cassie’s things away. When they have gone she sits in Cassie’s empty room, with her heart breaking. Suddenly Azazeal appears. He tells her Cassie is stuck between worlds. She needs to see Thelma one more time before she will be at piece. Thelma wants nothing more than one more chance to see Cassie but Azazeal tells her there is a price to pay. She must bring him the Stone of Belial.

Azazeal watches as Ella returns from her date with Leon. She tells Leon she had a good time and would like to do it again. Azazeal smiles...

When Thelma asks Ella why she hasn't lured the Seraph with Leon yet, Ella says it's because Leon isn't ready yet, but is she perhaps growing fond of him? Meanwhile Roxanne goes for another "counselling session" with Jez, and manages to leave her pen behind at his house.

Ella asks Leon on another date. Thelma sees them laughing and joking together. While Ella and Leon play Jenga in the pub, Thelma extracts the Stone of Belial from the fireplace. And as they return home she heads outside.

As Thelma follows Azazeal into the woods, things become passionate between Ella and Leon. But Ella pulls away when she remembers that Leon must remain a virgin if he is to be used as bait against the Seraph. Leon is not happy and Ella feels guilty.

Meanwhile Thelma hands the stone to Azazeal and she sees Cassie again. Thelma tells her that she wants to die again to be with her. Cassie tells her that her place is now on earth, helping Ella. She gives her a kiss as her last gift.

As daylight dawns Azazeal pays a visit to Jo Watkins. As she lies terrified, he whispers in her ear. Whatever he says, it's clearly the most dreadful thing she's ever heard as she let's out a silent scream.

Ella sits by the lake with Thelma. She's having second thoughts as her feelings for Leon grow, but she knows she must do her duty.

As David Tyrel discovers a catatonic Jo Watkins in her room, Ella is sending a sexy webcam message to Leon, apologising for the night before. It succeeds but it's obviously a struggle for Ella to deceive him like this.

Ella's clearly tense about her date with Leon and Thelma's feeling guilty about betraying Ella by giving the stone away. Jez meanwhile is telling David Tyrel that he saw marks on Ella's wrists. He thinks she might be self-harming. David's obviously concerned.

That evening Ella takes Leon out into the woods, promising him a good time. Meanwhile Roxanne is also out in the woods, paying a visit to Jez. As Roxanne seduces Jez rather successfully, Ella ties Leon to a tree to wait for the Seraph. However, Thelma meanwhile has discovered that her last kiss from Cassie wasn't just an empty gift. She finds that when she looks in the mirror her breath forms condensation on it. The condensation spells a warning. The Seraph is not a Seraph at all but the Nephelim Araquiel, who is in disguise in an effort to kill Ella. Thelma grabs the Volta and rushes out.

As Roxanne leaves Jez's with a big smile on her face, Thelma races to the clearing where Leon is tied to a tree. Ella looks on unawares. The Nephelim Araquiel watches her. As he makes his attack, Thelma reaches the clearing. Shouting Ella a warning, she throws her the Volta. Just in time Ella sees her mistake and fires the Volta at Araquiel. After a struggle, he finally lies dead.

Thelma and Ella look relieved, until they see Roxanne stumble into the clearing and find Leon tied up. She takes a picture of him with her phone. He obviously thinks Ella has abandoned him there as a joke.

Meanwhile Jez enters his church, but he is not alone. Azazeal stands in the shadows. He informs Jez that Araquiel is dead. For a second, Jez reveals his true form, the Nephelim Ramiel. He tells Azazeal not to worry. Ella's trial is already beginning.

Wow I loved this ep It was really good! and I posted a thread in the wron place so here is what I said earlier:
OMG!! Did anyone watch Hex 2night, I can not believe that??? Is cassie gone for good? It seemed like Ella is the main character and then at the credits at the end Cassies name was near the end, not usually where the lead actor is! And I did not see the priest storyline coming!

I was stunned by this episode. The meeting between Cassie and Thelma was so emotional and I knew she was going to leave her with some kinda of power. I was upset at the thought that Cassie is gone now, for good. But Ella's character is growing and I'm starting to like her.

I'm still in shock about Jez though. I didn't expect him to be a Nephelim... can't wait to see where this story goes!

OMG, another great episode. So many moments I really didn't see coming.

First off, Cassie. I hope she'll return. I'm sure she will... but not for quite sometime I suspect (and fear.) I just had to read the Fall of Man part from Milton's Paradise Lost for Lit-class, so many of the scenes had a double meaning. The scene with Jo, David, and Thelma in Cassie's old room was heart-breaking, even moreso than the scene with Thelma and Cassie, which was a bit disappointing.

I liked the whole Leon/Ella thing, made Ella look more human; I hope that Leon WILL forgive her in the end.

Roxanne, I just love her. I don't know what it is about her, her stunning looks, her great acent, or the playfulness of the character, but I'm falling for her just as hard as Jez. About him... God, didn't think he'd be one of the Nephelim. Oh and Malakai nearing the age of maturity? Sounds exciting, but then what's the deal with Jo needing to babysit. I hope she'll be alright. I hope she and David will finally get together too ;)

One thing I didn't like was the use of the term Seraph, but that's only cause I'm using the same name for an artifact in my fanfic... I had it first :p

Anyhow, great episode... has me craving for more.

On a side-note, I'm curious as to what exent this series will use the same christian mythology as Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The reunion with Cassie and Thelma had me close to tears, so touching. The whole kiss with Cassie giving Thelma a link to her reminded me of Doyle and Cordelia.

I can't quite recall but that amulet that Thelma gave back to Azazeal, was it mentioned that it bends time? As in could they not make it so Cassie didn't die?

I loved it when we found out who or what Jez really was, I knew it from the start that he was not what he seemed and so far loving his character.

Now that you mention it, the whole kiss is indeed a bit reminiscent of the Cordy/Doyle kiss in Angel season 1 or the Cordy/Angel kiss in season 5. I wonder wether the creators of this show watched Buffy/Angel.

I bet they did, I think I posted this somewhere (maybe I just meant to!!) but Thelma says a line in one of the eps about the amulet and how if she puts it on she is not going to destroy everything(Spike?) anybody remember the exact quote?

Another great ep - though doesn't anyone notice that Ella is always wearing the same clothes?

I am loving Roxanne this season as well - didn't really like the character last season. They have her dressing better and with more classic makeup as well. I like the Rox-Leon banter, so hopefully we'll see more of that. And while we're at it, poor Leon lol. Liking him a lot better this season as well. Cute even lol.

I thought something was going to happen with Jez. I almost thought Roxanne was going to turn out to be something when Ella was talking to Thelma about demons could be anybody.

As for "Seraph" - think it came from the bible love ;)

I really am going to be sad if Cassie doesn't come back at all. I mean, she is the show!

I am so glad that they decided to build up these characters, they have turned out to be really funny, The Roxanne-Leon banter is brilliant! It is so funny.

Just watched this episode. Here's my review that I wrote for TV.com:

I was so upset that Cassie was gone I left the next few episodes of the show on my computer for a couple of weeks. I just couldn't see how the show could possibly continue and be GOOD without Cassie. After all, all the storylines in season one where dependant on Cassie's presence.

Despite her death, this episode was really great and entertaining, although I don't think I'll ever really forget Cassie, and I will be hoping beyond hope that she'll return if there's a third season.

This was a very emotional episode. I was touched by the beginning, where David seems so heartbroken by Cassie's disappearance. Later on, Azazeal tells Thelma that if she gives him his necklace back that she can say a final good-bye to Cassie. That scene was very touching as well, and Thelma is left with some kind of power as well.

Meanwhile, Ella is hunting a Seraph - which is a creature from the spirit world that feeds on souls. They only prey on virgins, so she intends on using Leon as bait, and forms a faux relationship with him, but then finds herself falling in love with him. It turns out it wasn't a Seraph at all, but a Nephalim.

Roxanne seduces Father Jez and we later find out he is not an innocent priest after all. He is working with Azazeal and appears to be either some sort of demon or fallen angel. Whatever he is, I'm very intrigued with his character now.

Speaking of villains, Azazeal didn't have a very large role in this episode. Like always, I enjoy him very much as a bad guy but despite the fact he's *THE* villain of the show, he seems very minor. I'm hoping this will change soon.

Overall a great episode, and now I am beginning to like Leon, when before I thought he was just an extremely pointless cast member.

I'd also like to add that I'm liking Leon and Roxanne this season, too. Last season I *HATED* them and thought they were just there to take up time.

I agree with you on both counts, Leon and Roxanne were pretty annoying last season, but now they've both turned around.
