So I have terrible news, it appears that Hex has been canceled, and I have to say I am gutted, I really wanted some answerers to the season 2 finale. But there has been a message posted on the SkyOne website by a fan about an e-mail they got back from sky:
Hello Rachel,
I was passed on your e mail address by customer relations about Hex. First of all I want to say how thrilled I am by your support of the show; fans and support like yours make all the work worthwhile. But to your question, I will never say that a show will never return however the sad news is that at the moment there is no plan for a further series of Hex.
It was a great series for Sky One, extremely innovative and exciting to work on; it has launched a whole new group of young actors and set the standard for any future British high concept series. We are very proud of it but we now wish to move on.. We have some other very exciting developments on the drama slate and we hope to be making more new dramas for Sky One so please keep watching.

All the people on there have all agreed that it is canceled, and TV.com has changed it's status to Ended.
So I do believe it has ended :(

UGH! That sucks. That sucks. That sucks. That. SUCKS.
No Way. They just started airing this in Canada last night. I watched the premiere ep, and kind of liked it.
I tell you I'm cursed. If I like something, they cancel it. You can blame me, I think. ;)

I am so tired of getting invested in a show to only have it be tossed aside...

Me too it is hart wrenching! I just bought point pleasant for a friend of mine, and we always watch there types of series together(The ones that get canceled) and she said "this actually ends right?" and I said no it is a cliffhanger ending, and I got smacked with a book and told to stop introducing her to these types of shows!
But it is so annoying to watch a show and then have it canceled and not give the show an ending!

Which is one I reason I will always continue to watch Lost and Desperate Housewives, because you know that unless something goes terribly wrong, they'll get finales. And that's why I at least always give shows on The WB a shot because they have a much better chance than a show on any other network.
But the reason I started watching Hex was because I thought, being a UK-made show, it would get a finale or at least a season down the line where it was ended without a cliffhanger. I guess that's too much to ask.
But ya know...I can't get anything on Google about this cancellation. How sure are you? That post doesn't even mention exactly who the email was from. Isn't that a post from a message board poster, about something he heard from another message board poster.
I don't know, you're probably right, but I'm going to be an eternal optimist, and hang on until I hear official word, before I start my lament.

Uh...that letter was from the Sky Network, and besides, you'd think they would have renewed it by now if they wanted to.
But someone posted ratings at TV.com, and they plummeted after Cassie left, so...unless she came back I doubt the ratings would go up.
Using nothing more than guessology, I'd guess you're right. It's doubtful there will be a 3rd season of Hex.
If we insist on proof from a verifiable, reliable source though, I'm not sure we have any at this time.
The Hex site is still up at Sky One. I remember when Tru Calling was cancelled rumours started circulating, that's how we finally knew the show was really cancelled. The Tru Calling page disappeared from Fox's website. I don't know though, is Hex season 2 still showing on Sky?
As far as this particular rumour is concerned it's a story from a message board poster, who posted a PM from someone (kneetroll) who has a couple of Hex fan sites. She claims to have quote-unquote "sources" in Sky One.
Any long-time Buffy fan can tell you you have to be suspicious as soon as you hear someone talking about quote-unquote "sources". I could list you ten "sources" stories off the top of my head from Buffy/Angel that turned out to be incorrect.
Again though, in spite of all that I think this particular story is probably correct, even though I distrust it's source. I'd be surprised to see a third season of Hex.

Well actually FOX canceled Tru Calling just a few months after it started production on season two, and the website was not deleted for a year. They have left other websites up for a long while as well. ABC leaves most of their websites up after shows are canceled...and I've noticed that many cable channels leave their show sites up for SEVERAL years, including Sci Fi, HBO, etc.
So I wouldn't necessarily trust the status of a network's website.
Well Tru Calling was an odd thing, possibly similar to Hex. There was cancellation talk, then the call for new episodes went back from 13 to 6, but they still had those 6 eps to show, then the following year they started to show them. They never showed the last ep of the 6. It was replaced with Simple Life. Going by memory alone it was shortly after that the Fox Tru Calling page disappeared, and all hope of Tru, or the completion of the 13 evaporated. That's the point. They weren't going to show it any more. You see the way I remember it when Tru Calling came back the second time, there was still a vague hope of a revival.
You're probably right about different networks having different policies though. I know UPN had their Buffy board up forever, but the WB got rid of their Angel board almost immediately after the cancellation.
Doesn't really matter, because my only real point is, there is no official word as yet that Hex is cancelled. That doesn't mean it isn't. That only means there is no official word as yet.

Well being optimistic I hope I am wrong, I have posted on that forum and asked for a source, and have not got a reply all day, which is funny since the Hex forums are the most active!
But what about Tv.com changing the status of the show to Ended? They wouldn't do that without official confirmation would they?
And I don't think they will take the Hex site down, all of their other Canceled Shows are still on there, like Buffy and Angel, and they have been over for a while!
But what about Tv.com changing the status of the show to Ended? They wouldn't do that without official confirmation would they?
Something I've been wondering about the new TV.com. Are they still user-run, like the old TVTome? If so, yeah they would. If TVTome was always correct, we'd be watching Anthony Stewart Head in Ripper right now. TVTome made tons of mistakes, but since they've become TV.com, I don't know. I'm pretty sure they're working off the same info we are though, because I saw it referenced on their message boards, and you just have to google to see there's no official word.
So OK, I guess the cancellation not showing on the site doesn't mean anything then, but it was never meant as prove of anything, just something worth noticing.

TV.com is based on viewer submissions and the information is always changing.

Yeah they really weren't giving you much credence. I figured maybe if you had some support...so I signed up, made some spelling mistakes so they'd think I was one of them, and joined you.
We finally got this from a link to yet another message board:
I just recieved this e-mail from Elaine, the Sky One commissioning editor, and it seems the worst has indeed come to worst:
Now the question becomes what is a commisioning editor, and how do we double check this with her.
You see here's what I don't get. This story is at least a week old now. You would think at least one of the raggier English papers would have picked up on it by now, but not a peep. Why not? It's just an email, or a phone call for them to confirm this.

Good point, and I hope you're right - there's a chance it could be fake.

I found another article linked through TV.com that says Hex was cancelled. I can't make it work when I link it because it gives me a TV.com link, because it won't let you go DIRECTLY to the site...it's like Google only it won't let you close the thing at the top and won't let you get the URL.
But anyhoo, it's a Canadian site called "Jam" or something and talks about the Canadian premiere, and at the end it says:
....Whether Hex can find an audience on these shores remains to be seen, but it's certainly worth a look. Just don't get too attached to these characters ... despite a strong fan base in the U.K., the show was cancelled after two seasons. And when it comes to TV, there's no such thing as life after death...
Yeah OK, I found it. It's from the Edmonton Sun originally.

I posted at the Canadian message board for the Science Fiction station that's airing it. They're like bulldogs. They'll track the story down.
But yeah, it's starting to look more and more cancelled, although we could still hang on to a faint sliver of hope, and say maybe that newspaper columnist is working off the internet story.
One thing that might be encouraging is as I recall The Sun is the more tabloidy of the 2 Edmonton papers. Also it is still the only Hex cancelled story on Google.

Your kidding, I was recently going to get into this show because everyone was telling me how amazing it was. That really stinks, I hate watching shows I get into and than all the sudden they get canceled. Why do tv networks do tthat?

I know it's been a while since I checked in, but I've been lurking on various other places reading news about the cancellation and so far, I haven't found any other source that this "Dear Rachel" letter, which I'm kind of sceptical of; I guess we'll have to see.

Hey there Allycat, nice to see you're...well, alive. ;)
Like I said, I saw a Canadian article saying it was canceled...maybe somene here should try contacting Sky One themselves.
I did learn one thing. The commisioning editor is the guy who purchases series for the network, so if he really did say what the fan said he said, it sounds like good info.
At the Canadian TV station's message board there's a station guy who audits the board. He doesn't seem to think Hex is coming back for a third, but nothing firm there either.

Well...I've gotten past the pain and I'm over it. It sucks though.
OK again, I doubt Hex will be picked up, but here's something to consider when deciding whether, or not stories like this one are credible.

Recently Joblo.com came out with an April fools joke saying Kate Beckinsdale was cast as Wonder Woman. No, I don't think "Hex cancelled" was an April Fool's joke. The interesting thing here is several news outlets reported that fraud as fact without double-checking the facts.
Here ya go. It's official.
Confirmed: Supernatural drama 'Hex' axed
Wednesday, April 26 2006, 19:05 BST - by Neil Wilkes
Sky One's supernatural drama Hex has been axed after two series, it has been confirmed.
The show began strongly two years ago with a peak of almost a million viewers for the launch, but audiences steadily declined to around 200,000 viewers by the time series two finished last December.
"Hex was an exciting, original idea that captured the attention of critics and audiences alike," Sky One controller Richard Woolfe told Broadcast. "We're extremely proud of the series, but feel that it's come to a natural end. I'm confident that the ideas we have in development will have a similar impact when they're broadcast."
The series is the second original commission to be axed by Woolfe in as many weeks, having already ditched long-running football drama Dream Team.

I bet you the ratings dropped because whats-her-name left.

Well it does suck... I had never seen this show on tv but I did get hooked on the first season and just checked today to see if maybe just maybe there happened to be a second season ... which yay there was.. All this talk about it being completely cancelled still bafles me. It is a stellar show and it should return to air.
In regards to whether or not it may be permanently cancelled... I dont know??? It is still up on the SkyOne website... All the discussions here are from 2006... this is the end of 2007... I would be suspicious as to whether or not it was truly over... fingers crossed at least..
I hope it comes back either way
