Yeah, I remember Captain Jack. I remember being surprised when they appeared to kill him off. Didn't they leave him behind somewhere in mortal peril, or something?.
Is America up that far yet? If not watch for him. See if you think he can handle his own series.

Russell T. Davies, executive producer of the Doctor Who revival currently airing on SCI FI Channel, told SCI FI Wire that he's not worried about the possibility of spreading himself too thin this spring, when he sets about producing the second season of his hit SF show and launching its spinoff, Torchwood.

LONDON--Russell T. Davies, creator of the upcoming Doctor Who spinoff series Torchwood, told SCI FI Wire that the spinoff was an idea that made sense, especially given their charismatic new star, John Barrowman.

Yeah John Barrowman has charisma, but I can't help wondering, will the Doctor Who crowd buy into a Bi-sexual main character? Is that even an issue?

Torchwood cast news from the BBC Dr Who site shows that Capt Jack won't have to carry it on his own :)
Two more cast members have been confirmed for the forthcoming Doctor Who spin-off series Torchwood. First up is Burn Gorman, who will play Torchwood's resident medic Owen Harper. Burn was most recently seen in the hugely successful adaptation of Charles Dickens' Bleak House, in which he played Guppy.
The other new member of the team - joining John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper - is a familiar face to viewers of the 2005 series of Doctor Who. Naoko Mori will be reprising her role as Toshiko Sato, a scientist who first appeared in the episode Aliens of London. Naoko is perhaps also best known for her role as Saffy's best friend Sarah in the sitcom Absolutely Fabulous.
BTW - Eve Myles mentioned above played Gwyneth (the maid) in the S1 ep The Unquiet Dead (the Dickens one) and was excellent in that (IMO), which is presumably why she got the nod for Torchwood - I wonder if her characters will turn out to be related...
Burn Gorman was brilliant in Bleak House - well worth watching if you get a chance...the only time I've knowingly enjoyed Dickens :)

I'm really looking forward to this, There's definitely a great cast to it. John Barrowman was fantastic as the Captain, he worked so well off the other two characters!
I loved the actress that played Grew in TUD I thought she was excellent as well, I'm really happy that she will be in the show.
I also like that it's go the later showing, to make it more adult, although considering Doctor who is actually quite adult, I wonder what else this will be exploring, lol.
I love the little twist of the captain being Bi, I thought that was hilarious. I love the scene in the first series I think it’s the parting of the ways, where he says goodbye to Rose then Kiss's her then does the same thing to the Doctor that was one of the funniest moments in the episode!

Now that we have seen the last two, I'm gonna say it would have been awesome to have Yvonne in Torchwood.
She was just so great. I loved her, and she was played perfectly.
But, i suppose if they ever do books of Torchwood in the other dimension, following Rose(that would be cool - even Comics for you fans) she could be in Torchwood there.

Yvonne was an amazing character, I really liked her. It's a pity they killed her off.
I would love a book on what Rose is doing now, but I'm hopeing we get some very subtle little nod towards Rose in this, something like they mention how well one pf the other torchwoods is doing in a alternate universe, but I suppose it's probably impossible with the no Comunicado!

Well, Tracy Ann(Yvonne) said in last weeks TV Times that she would LOVE to come back to Dr who in the 'Future or Past, as its time Travel anything is possible'(those were her words) and if Angels Vision is correct, in another thread she said Radio One(a BBC Radio Channel) had said Rose will have one more role in season 3......so fingers crossed eh.

I'm not sure if I would want her to come back, I kinda want to kick myself for saying that, it's just with the way they ended it was kinda perfect. If they were given another moment they could mess it up, although having said that I have complete confidence in the writers, producer, directors and actors of this show so it could also be spectacular.
I really hope they allow Yvonne to come back! :)

Apparently the BBC intend to repeat Torchwood on one of the terrestrial channels...see towards the bottom of THIS BBC press release (http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2006/04_april/24/torchwood.shtml)
