LONDON--Steven Moffat, who wrote the Doctor Who first-season episodes "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances," told SCI FI Wire that he was surprised by the overwhelmingly positive response to the two-parter, which makes its U.S. debut on SCI FI Channel May 5 and May 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

They get a lot of mileage out of Rose's sweatshirt. That image is still engrained in my mind. When you see the ep you'll know the image I'm talking about.

This is an important episode to see if you're a Who fan, because the Torchwood spinoff they're talking about starts spinning from this one. I read that in another article the Cassie-bot posted here, I think.

Only in the sense that Captain Jack is to lead the show.
It becomes more ingrained within the show mythos from the Christmas Invasion then the origins are mentioned in season 2.

Ohh and Rose looks awesome in that Top...God Save those Queens;)

But Mr P is indeed 100% correct, you Americans are incredibly lucky with this two part adventure. It genuinely scares in places(for a Kids Show) and the acting is superb, even Bisexual Captain Jack(apparently his sexuality is gonna be important in Torchwood) is cool....but the reason i feel this to be a great episode, its starting to do the run down for the magnificent season ender. this is the beginning of the end of this series, and trust me, you are in for one heck of a ride:)

As an aside, Steven Moffat's latest Who ep aired this weekend and featured Mme De Pompadour. Needless to say, it was another triumph (Tick! Tock!:)) and some of it was filmed at Ragley Hall, which is a stately home very near to where I hail from in Warwickshire.

These episodes were excellent! And they were actually a little scary, that little kid was totally creepy!

The captain is a really good character, I am really looking forward to the spin off now.

Yeah those American accents are weird. They say "about" instead of "aboot", and everone knows it's just good grammar to follow every sentence with the question "eh?"

And nobody has a clue what I'm talking aboot do they?
