OK, I might get into trouble for this, but I have to tell my Doctor Who and the Cybermen story, so I'm going to. :D
Doctor Who: The Second Season was pre-empted in Canada because of the stupid hockey finals, which my team wasn't even in, so I wasn't that interested in.
Anyway...lock me up, put me in irons, I decided to download the episodes.
So I'm at Doctor Who and The Cybermen, I get through the first ep of the 2 parter, and I decide it's good - not as outstanding as the 2 episodes which preceded it, but good. I was looking forward to the conclusion.
Next week comes. I "acquire" the second part, get my popcorn ready, start watching it, I'm into it, and right where the action starts, right where Rose and the Doctor start actively fighting the cybermen, some idiot with a British accent comes on, and starts actively describing the action in the background. Piss me off, or what.
It completely turned me off to the whole Cybermen thing. Those 2 episodes are now officially my least favourite entries in the Doctor Who series.
Oh well that's the problem with traveling in the geek universe, you'll be dealing with geeks, and sooner or later one will make his presence known.

What do you mean, actively describing and if you are commenting on Roger Lloyd Pack, then learn his name, he is one of the funniest British Sitcom Actors so we had a novelty of seeing him be a 'James Bond-esque' bad guy.
Personally i liked the Cybermen episode, it was amusing to see Roses Family and Mickey was actually Ok....oops, sorry, Ricky.
Wait a minute now...
Are you saying that wasn't just some guy who inserted his voice into the episode, then sent it out over the internet?
Do you mean that was the way the actual episode went out over BBC?
If so, that sucks beyond belief.

OK, i'm lost.
Was the guy that comes on, on screen or a voice over...........
It was a voice-over.
Some guy was saying stuff like "Rose climbs the ladder", as Rose climbed the ladder. It went on and on for about 5 minutes. I would have happily choked whoever was doing it.

It sounds like you got a copy of the programme intended for the visually-impaired or at least part of it...or possibly someone (don't ask me how) had appended the commentary track from the BBC website (coming soon to a DVD boxset in Pointy Towers at Christmas...never hurts to start the hints early;))
I'm never sure about this d***loading (:)) business. I have done it but I always feel slightly grubby afterwards...having said that, if I can get all the eps of 24, Prison Break, Invasion etc that I missed whilst on hols I may look at it in a new light...
There are times when they really shouldn't care, if you ask me. For example with something like The Inside, well they cancelled it, and they won't bring out the DVD.
With Doctor Who, the BBC lets you download DW episodes anyway, but there's some they haven't gotten around to putting up yet. I'm just helping them out.
Having just done a Mr. Doolittle on morality though, I'll be honest. I don't have an ethical problem filesharing. I think it's my responsibility to help encourage the technology, and believe it or not, this time I'm not joking. Some day artists will create their own work without having to rely on corporations as the keepers of the gateway between the art and its appreciators. They will communicate with us directly, and this will all be the eventual result of the chain that begin when kids had to have the next episode of their Doctor Who (or whatever).
