Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic!!! Wow I have just seen my first episode of Doctor who, and I am so impressed, and totally kicking myself for not watching sooner!!

I thought I would watch the first episode first, and I just finished it. I thought it was freaking amazing. The acting is really good, and I would have been questioning that as it's not always the best in programs from England, not all but there are some, like there was even moments of Hex that had me going "eh...", but I really liked this. Plus the characters are cool!

I really like Billie Piper, and she would have been the other thing I would be iffy about just because she was a pop star before, so they might have hired her just for her name, but she was excellent, and oh so hot!!

I also thought it was an excellent, can you say pilot even though it's like a continuation?, but yeah it was an excellent re-starting episode there was a perfect combination of storyline and explanation.

Also, and this kind of threw me, but it didn't come off as cheesy to me, yet the idea of mannequins(sp?) being the bad guys does sound really cheesy, they pulled it off really well!

Glad you finally watched! (Would we steer you wrong?) I love Rose too (didn't know she was a pop star before). But it was sort of nice to have a more "regular girl" character on a show (at least from my perspective).

Yes! Thats exactly what she is, she's really normal, but not overly thats she's not cool, hope I'm explaining that right, lol.

Yeah she was a huge pop star a number of years ago with her hit Because We want to (Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1Aj_rVWb20&search=Billie%20Piper)), And I have to say I liked the song when it was released, lol. She was really young aswell like 16 or something!

I loved(still do) Rose.
It was great way to introduce the SideKick as opposed to the Doctor.
I mean as much as Eccleston was a New Doctor, the Character had been around for decades.
I was totally against Billie Piper coming in as Rose because not only was she 'The Pop Star' who achieved fame in this country for being the youngest female to score a number 1 solo(apparently) she'd also just gone through that VERY public divorce with Chris Evans.
But all my fears were put aside after this episode because it was just SOOO great.
I love Jackie, i liked Mickey getting eaten by the bin(also loved how his cowardice was shown), Mark Benton as the guy searching for the Doctor was hilarious, but I was thoroughly impressed with Eccleston.
I'd been aware of him from films and other TV, but when i watched him in this show, I think i fell in love with his Doctor. The cheekiness was awesome, the fact he gave the Doctor dignity and Integrity too.
Lets be honest, in hands of a lesser man, Dr Who could easily have followed that really poor cheesy route and been a laughing stock.

My only issue with the show is the lack of episodes. I love that its British but i'd prefer it to be Americanized ONLY in season length.

I loved it the solution to the problem:anti-Plastic! now that was comic genius!
I also agree with Al the bit where Mickey is swallowed up by a wheely bin is utterly hilarious!
And the Copy was even funnier in the resturant...lol
I also liked the bit where Rose goes with the Doc at the end:
After the Tardis re-emerges, the Doc comes out and adds, "did i mention it travels through time..?" lol.

I'm lucky I guess because I live here and so I missed all the background stuff with Billie before she was on the show, so I didn't have a bias going in.

I liked Chris Eccleston before, but I was so surprised in this episode, seeing him so cheeky as you said - terrific! He sort of makes you laugh/smile just because of his attitude to things. I must admit that my perception of Doctor Who before (not actually having seen an episode) was of a cheesy 70s show but I really was surprised when I actually sat down and watched it.

So me and Joamna finally got around to watching this episode... Never seen this show before.. And, ok, sorry if I'm stupid but is the acting supposed to feel very soap opera? Ok I thought it was kinda fun to wath but I'd love it if someone would explain what's so super great about this show, cause I really want to like it, lol...

Well The things I like about the show, would be similar to those of Buffy and Angel, The characters are great, if you watch a few more eps the characters really grow on you. How they interact with each other as well, they play off each other so well. I also enjoyed the storylines, they were fun, they never took themselves to seriously, there's no huge scientific explanation, like in this episode the way to defeat the Plastic; Anti-Plastic, I mean that’s just funny!

But then woven throughout the fun is this amazing dramatic story, that is really incredible!

Hm ok, I don't see myself becoming a huge fan of this show, but I'll definitely give it another chance and watch a few episodes, I owe After-Darkness that much :D
