No, I'm talking about role playing games.

Oh. Well a role play for Angel/Buffy then would be cool.

We would probably stick to something more along the lines of the board, especially as we run Buffy RPGs off of Buffy Boards.

I only really watch supernatural and charmed so those are the only ones i could really suggest.... I've never seen the other shows featured on the boards although i'd like to check them out...

I only watch HEX, so if anything something related to that show.... but perhaps since we all have different interests something along the lines of the Marvel Secret Wars.

@AB: Yeah, Secret Wars was a storyline for Marvel comics in which all Superheroes and Supervillains were transported to an alien planet and pitted against each other... kind of like a massive crossover.

Yeah it doesn't have to be one of the four shows, but Buffy has been so done, and since we have the other board specificlaly for that, it's not going to be the first thing we do.

I'm thinking of starting with one where you create your own character.
Allycat

That too would be interesting, but then you would also have to develop an entire new mythology.
Vilandra

Not necessarily...
Allycat

You mean base the mythology of the RPG on one of the currently existing shows, but not use the characters?
Vilandra
10-28-2005, 01:37 PM
No - but you don't need to create a whole mythology just to do a story with our own characters.

Well, any supernatural story needs to have a mythology to base itself on, right? I mean, it can be very small sure, but you need something.

If you'd like to continue with the "Create your Own Character" game, I'd suggest to at least have some sort of background/history of the game, where you can base off an idea or event that somehow linked all of the characters together (At least in the long run). For example, to run along the idea of the board, perhaps have some sort of paranormal event or activity that could somehow tie into each characters background/history, or how they'd work into the story. Whether they were effected by what ever happened, were investigating what was or had happened, etc. etc.
Very vague yes, but I think a sort of paranormal mystery game where the plot and storylines twisted and turned frequently with new surprises, revealing bits and pieces of the event or what ever happened and slowly unveiling how each character was linked would be nice.
And wow, that just came out a lot more confusing then I thought >.<

Unless you use a frame of reference everyone already knows. You need to create a story but not necessarily mythology.

SciFi stories usually have a mythology and the richer and deeper the mythology is the better the story will (usually) be. I like Oblivion's suggestion.

allycat kind of suggested this earlier but it would be so cool if we could do an RPG with comic books..like an xmen one or a spiderman one or superman...or all comics together..and you can just be any character

That sounds like a very good idea. I would like to be part of that.

Technically you could apply to be a comic book character for the Real World RPG. Any character from the worlds of Sci fi, fantasy, comics etc is applicable to that game and then they will be living together with the other characters from whatever realms chosen.

I'd love either a Supernatural, or a Doctor Who RPG. That'd stoke me royally!

Firefly, maybe?
I'm new and I don't post that regularly, so take my advice for what little it's worth, but I think that might appeal to people. Plus, the show's over and short-lived, so it gives people a chance to actually catch up.
Vilandra

The only problem with Firefly is that we tried to do one on BB and there were like 3 applications tops :(
I think the Kindred RPG would probably do better on BB. But that doesn't really apply here. Um...I think the Heroes-style RPG that has already been suggested is a good idea.
Edit:
Which kind of makes my post a little pointless, no?
