From Ask Ausiello (http://tvguide.com/News/Ausiello/AskAusiello/):

Question: Any spoilers for the new season of Supernatural? Specifically, will Jeffrey Dean Morgan (John) survive the car crash? — Angie

Ausiello: Here's the straight scoop from series creator Eric Kripke himself (warning: you're just inches away from a major spoiler about last May's cliff-hanger; proceed at your own peril): "We will introduce a new set of 'hunters' this season — a mom and her daughter, who will be about the same age as the Winchester boys. John will definitely have survived the car crash, he’s alive and well, and he’ll soon have a face-to-face confrontation with the demon."

Huh, whadya know. They figured out a way to get some females in there. How can a mom and daughter both be about the same age as Sam and Dean? Or is that saying the daughter specifically. Must be.

Maybe the two families will hook up and merge like the Brady Bunch, heh...

Just my opinion, but sounds dumb to me. Talk about jumping the shark. What do you want to bet the first thing they do is have one of the girls beat up one of the boys to show how tough they are?

I agree, it does sound pretty dumb on paper. Wonder how it will play out...

Yeah it depends on whether they're regulars, or not. It becomes an entirely different series if they're regulars.

They won't be regulars, they are only supposed to be in a few episodes. They have the option to make them recurring characters, which, I suppose, will be decided when they see how the fans react to them.

But how is it a stupid idea? I agree it will be weird, but I could have SWORN that in season one it's mentioned that there are lots of people out there hunting the supernatural, and they wouldn't have mentioned it I don't think if they never intended to show anyone else.

I think it could either be really really good or just plain catastrophic.

It just seems kind of artificial somehow...one demon hunting family bumps into another demon hunting family. Maybe it'll be good, dunno. If they already established that idea, like you say...

Yeah artificial is a good word. I was going to choose "forced". Like when characters are forced into a series for the soul reason of appealing to a particular demographics sensibilities, that rarely seems to work.

On the other hand if these characters are just going to be in a couple of eps as a result of some legitimate writer inspiration, who knows? Maybe. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in that case.

10/04 - Exec producer Eric Kripke said that, and he's standing by his words. "John Winchester really is dead," Kripke insists. "But the show is called Supernatural, and characters can come back in all sorts of ways. In the short term, we want the boys to deal with their dad’s unexpected death, and all the drama and angst that comes out of that, so we won’t see John for a little while. But this isn’t the last we hear from him." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide

12/06 - Executive producer John Shiban reveals: I'm really excited about the next new one, we had two repeats in a row after November sweeps, and now we've got Croatoan coming up, which is really one we've talked about for a long time and we used to talk about the same thing on X-Files, which is that old legend of the lost colony of Roanoke. If you remember your history class, Roanoke was one of the first English colonies in the Americas. The colony was established and then a few years later someone had come back and everyone had just disappeared and its always been a mystery, and it's fascinating. So taking the idea of that and putting it into a modern day town that may or may not disappear overnight, we trap our boys there, was a lot of fun. This is sort of a combination of Roanoke with "28 Days Later". I always wanted to do a George Romero kind of movie, and this is our chance to do it, and it turned out terrific. Source: BuddyTV

This is a general spoiler about the season:

01/18 - Show creator Eric Kripke reveals: You will by the end of the season [why Sam is a monster and not Dean.]. We've got a major reveal coming up. [There is nothing brewing between Jo and Dean.] So yeah, no sex for Jo and Dean! Sam, however, does get laid this season! Yes, he does find a girl and it's a big deal for him, since he's been mostly celibate since Jessica. We are currently negotiating with Jared's people for full-frontal nudity, and I think it's going to work out nicely—so definitely tune in for that! Source: Kristin on E!Online

01/26 - Eric Kripke and Robert singer reveal: Season three is in many ways about them fighting this war. The value of that mythology is we don’t have to get so wrapped up in bicentennial levels of complexity and mythology; it can just be a war has begun. War can take many different, painful for the guys and fun for the audience, forms. We still plan on keeping the same level in season three between self-enclosed and mythology episodes, we just plan on ramping up the stakes, because this war keeps getting bigger and bigger and more and more dangerous. That’s been fun for us because every season things keep getting more and more dangerous and worse and worse but we can still convey it to the audience that doesn’t become too bewildering or complicated. 01/24 - "Ava is coming back for the season finale," [Eric Kripke] told me. But it's for just "one more episode, Episode 21." After that you don't stand a ghost of a chance of seeing her again. "We thought at the beginning about her being a potential love interest for Sam," Kripke admitted. "But we came up with a different game plan for her that we were more excited about." OK, I'll bite: What's the new game plan? "Ava is one of the children who are chosen the way Sam is," Kripke revealed. "We climax the selected-children story line. We end it in the last two episodes of the season, and we bring all of the special children together in one location and then sort of decide who's going to remain standing. So that was the story line that ended up taking precedence over Ava's potential romance with Sam, this idea of a competition to see who of the psychic children will survive." 01/24 - Creator Eric Kripke made a lot of revelations about upcoming episodes this week. Here are a few ones he made: They would love to have Amber Benson back. He added that they are bringing a lot of people back for the finale. There will be a werewolf episode before the season ends. Source: SpoilerFix BuddyTV Spoilers Chat

01/23 - Eric Kripke, creator and executive producer of The CW's horror series Supernatural, told SCI FI Wire that season two will end with a final episode that will wrap things up and answer a lot of questions, unlike the previous season's cliffhanger finale. Among the questions that will be answered: What's the deal with Sam's destiny? What's the deal with the yellow-eyed demon? And will we see Sam and Dean's dad one last time? [...] Which is not to say that the finale will resolve all issues for the demon-hunting brothers Sam and Dean Winchester. "The story is by no means over," Kripke said. "There's major issues that still need to be resolved. But we're giving a climactic season finale that we think is going to feel epic and pretty exciting. We think the fans should be pretty stoked to see what's coming." Kripke said that the remainder of the season will be balanced between stand-alone stories and episodes that further the mythology of the series, leading to a spectacular conclusion in the finale. From Laura in Chicago: You said Jeffrey Dean Morgan is coming back to Grey's Anatomy, and I just can't wait. Is it just one episode? You also said no dream or flashback, so is it a hallucination? Can you tell us which episode? Can you give us any more hints as to how he comes back? Pretty please with sugar on top.

Wow, Laura, you ridin' the sugar train already, my sweet? You've got a lotta Q's! Yes, J.Mo, aka Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Denny) is indeed coming back (for more than one ep, as far as I know) and sadly, I can't say anything more about his Grey's return. Still, I do have a little exclusive scoop on J.D.M.'s other TV whereabouts: The CW has confirmed to me exclusively that Jeffrey—aka Papa—will be coming back to Supernatural this season! Yes, Jeffrey, Jensen and Jared are reuniting and it feels so good—and of course, looks so good. (Just when you thought you could put the bib away!)

Is it his characters you don't like or the actor?

Velvet Sky

I still love him. On Grey's I more didn't like Izzy's behavior in that storyline, but liked Denny. And on Supernatural, love him, but don't trust John as far as I can spot the guy. lol

Not sure why Vil doesn't like him though. lol I think he's just yummy. :)

I hate John Winchester. Did since "Shadow". Glad he's dead, don't want him to come back.

02/28 - Dean will have a live-in lady, before the end of the season. But don't freak, girls! I'm told they're somewhat serious, but it turns out Dean is actually unaware of the relationship's existence… Source: Kristin on E!Online

I would say it's the characters, cause I don't really have anything against the actor, but I don't like him on either show.
