The latest issue of DWM contains information on Doctor Who spin-off series.

Sarah Jane Investigates, which was reported by us a few days ago, is apparently going to start off as a 60 minute pilot for BBC One with potential to go for a full series. The script will be written by Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts. It will be produced by Susie Liggat and directed by Colin Teague.

Torchwood continues filming. Block Four has apparently started and consists of episodes Small Worlds by PJ Hammond (Sapphire and Steel) and Out Of Time by Cath Tregenna.
Further casting and story titles have been announced and these can be found on our new Torchwood mini-site which you can click on from the menu on the left.

Finally, in an article with Russell T Davies there is an interesting part in which he discusses Rose Tyler: Earth Defence! a proposed 90 minute special set in alternative earth, that was commissioned with a budget attached until Russell decided to cancel it.

I'm excited for Torchwood, but the other two are what I would have(will be) more interested in.

Sarah Jayne Investigates would be awesome.
I could imagine a fantastic Miss Marple Meets The X-Files via Lois Lane kinda story here, that would have been fantastic for an evening....and it would probably include K-9!!!
HOWEVER, the fact is, it seems to be CBBC(Chldrens BBC) that is doing this show so it would be aimed at younger viewers....so expect the Teletubbies to be the Season Bad Guy and not the Daleks!!!

Rose Tyler: Earth Defence!
I'm really sad this isn't happening, cause it would have been so cool to have a Torchwood Alternate Universe with Rose in there(I assume she'd be part of Torchwood anyway).
But, i suppose without this as a spin off, it leaves actual Dr Who open for Rose top return for like an episode in something similar.

I'm hoping the Sarah Jayne one is better than the K-9 one they did for BBC Kids.

No more Rose for a while is a little disappointing, but I can survive on Torchwood and the Doctor till then.
