Episode numbering

I was just wondering... do you all number the episode by the total like season 2 episode 1 you call episode 6 or do you designate it by season like 2.01 or 2x01 ?!

Well the official site is numbering them in total (episode 7, 8 etc) but for clarity I've labeled them both ways.

I noticed, thanks... it helps. The weird thing is that the official site does talk about the new season 2 characters. Can't they just number it like everybody else does?
