There's this bit in, I think it's Army of Ghosts, where the Daleks are viewing a scene on a screen. It's pointed out The Doctor is in the background. The Daleks suddenly notice "This one's heart rate has jumped" meaning Rose. Mickey says, "Tell me about it".

So did Rose have a romantic thing for the Doctor? If so was it just for Tenant, or did she drool for Eccleston's Doctor also?

I don't think there is much of a discussion here.
Its obvious in The Christmas Invasion that she is moruning a lost love and when she says 'I Love You' in Doomsday that kinda says it all for me.
She fell for Eccleston and it continued and broadened in Tennant.

So why didn't they go off, and raise little Time Lords I wonder. The Doctor's done it before. He didn't see Rose that way? Maybe it was a boss/employee kind of thing where he didn't cross that ethical boundry with a companion, but he would jump through a fireplace for some rennaissance smoochies.

From Rose's side, do you think maybe she was just waiting to make her move, or was something preventing her from coming right out, and planting one on him?

I still wonder also, were the hormones percolating more for Tenant, or more for Eccleston. There's the whole progression of the relationship thing, of course, but is there more to it though? Tenant seems like the more romantically accessible of the doctors so far.

Yeah totally hot for the Doc! I think more so for Tenant, In the commentary for Doomsday when The doc gets cut off before it, The women who's talking about the episode, along with two other guys. Says he was going to say it while the other two say "Oh we'll never know"

I agree with the woman, I recon he was going to say it and that tear, I was breaking my heart because they had been torn apart and no matter what happens with the rest of her life she will always love him and can never be with him. Its so tragic...I think i'm going to tear again

i definatly think " I love you" was to say i love you as in i fancy you!"
I think the Doc had reservations about it though because he never knows what face he is going to get and if he will survive or Rose for that matter because his job is dangerous, but i do think he shoulda had a snog with Rose and even discussed it with her.
I'd a planted asnog on his luscious lips long ago myself if i was in Roses shoes!
I think they both realised it it was love when they said goodbye.

People, don't have a conversation in spoiler text. Just ask for it to be moved to season two/three if need be. Cause this is ridiculous.

Yeah sorry, It's in the season 2 section now, so there is no need for spoiler tags.

The only thing I would point out is that the discussions in the spoiler tags are references to episodes that have yet to air outside the UK.

Here's another thing I'm wondering about. We all seem resolved Rose had some kind of romantic fixation on the Doc, and he perhaps had feelings for her which went beyond the traditional Doctor/companion relationship.

Questions: Was this a special thing? Can it be replicated with say Martha Jones? Should it be, or will it feel false?

I reckon he does have feelings for her that go past the Doctor/Companian relationship.

I do remember RTD saying the Doctor's relationship with Martha will be something completely different.

I still want to see the Doctor have romantic relationships though. After Rose, and Madame de Pompadour it seems OK. There was a rumour floating around for awhile about a son for the Doctor in Season Three.

WHAT?????? A kid...??? I hope they don't sell out a do that.

I do hope the relationship will be diffferent from Rose because I remember in the old Dr Who movie when he kissed his assitant there was a big kickback. I never saw it myself by they mentioned it on one of the Confidential episodes.

I started out not liking Billie Piper so I wasn't really keen on Rose, but she really grew on me and the natural development between her and the Doctor was well done.

She lived a boring life and he came and showed her a new life, she was in awe of him and fell for him.

I do think they do fall for each other, myself but i don't think his relationship with Martha will be the same i think it will be friendship i also think he needs time to mourn his loss of Rose..i mean why not have the Doc have a love life..? what IS wrong with that..? it doesn't have to be a companion does it..?
People forget he did have Kids which is why he has a granddaughter.

I have four grandchildren but I've never had kids :)...but enough of my complex personal life...in the very first series, back in 1963, Susan was indeed described as the Doctor's grandaughter and back in those days they didn't have complex personal lives ;)...and didn't David Tennant's Doctor announce to Rose that he had a child in one of the S2 eps? Oh the shame! I can't remember which one...Fear Her?

I believe he did and it was fear her, and he may have fathered kids or adopted them, the reason i believe he had biologial ones is because Susan herself said she was born in another time, weak argument i know but i like to believe he did.

I think they both loved each other. Rose made her feelings pretty obvious, but i got the impression in Satan's pit that the message he wanted to be given to Rose was that he loved her too, but then he just says she already knows :)
