SINGER: I thought BUFFY had a great cast, and we used Amber Benson. I’d like to get Spike [James Marsters] on our show. I never thought I would particularly like BUFFY, but my wife got me hooked on it, and I was hooked on him. Plus, that series was so well written. It was so smart.
Well Duh! It's smarter than your show Singer, heh. Nice little interview I guess. There is some spoilage...
It's a probably a useful thing to reference above your depth in an interview though. Especially if the interview will appear on line. Buffy, Sandman, and Hellblazer fans will link to it, and say hey I should check out this Supernatural thing.
Those are some intriguing spoilers, I think.

I wonder if Mr Pointy detects any Hellblazer, Sandman vibes in SN. He's a fan, I believe.
They do make the show sound like it's gonna get more interesting...

Well he never tried to say Supernatural was smarter than Buffy, now did he? ;)
That was a really interesting interview...I'm definitely interested in where the third season would go. And the episode "Hollywood Babylon" sounds good.

No, I'm just tired of Buffy snobbery...even if this wasn't. Just cranky, lol. I do like the guy's taste in fiction...
I know exactly what you're talking about GB. It's like when they were talking about Whedon doing X3, and a minor nobody like Famke Jensen was saying if that happened she'd want to see a script first, then she'd decide if she wanted to work with the guy, or not. Or here's a better one... I know you're not supposed to say anything negative about the sainted Sarah Michelle Gellar, but it's my contention she has made a concerted effort to distance herself from the Buffy name. It was kind of ugly when she was promoting the Grudge, and she had to return to the Buffy trough courting the same Buffy fans she'd rejected. She even had to go to a Sci-fi convention (something she'd previously avoided doing), then all of a sudden she remembered she was on this show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Well first of all, you have to remember that "Buffy" is a niche show anyway...not many people are going to like it and you can't blame them...it's an odd show and even for me, I had to get used to it and give it several tries before I started to like it, then a few more and I started to love it.
Secondly, I don't think Gellar is a great actress anyway, and I've often insulted her, BUT I also can't blame her for not wanting to be typecast or anything, but if that's her motivation for how she treats Buffy I think she's going to an extreme...and she was also eager to get into movies. But recently I heard on the radio that she hinted she might would actually consider doing TV again, like all these other celebrities are now doing...it gets them a fanbase, plus her movie career hasn't exactly taken off. I don't know if that's true or not though.
P.S. - Joss Whedon isn't the best writer ever, so why get upset if an actress would want to read his stuff first? BotD and I were talking about this the other day...Buffy isn't great just because of him, but because of all the producers and writers who put in their input...I think had he written the show all by himself it would've been very different. And I just don't get the Whedon worship...I love [most] of his stuff but some people overrate him, I think. OK, maybe just a TAD.

Yes he is. :love20:  :eviltongu ;)

I think JJ Abrams is equally as good.
