I was looking for an air date on Season 3 (couldn't find one), and I came across all this talk of Davies wanting to cast Hollywood actresses for Season 3 - Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Jessica Biel.

Makes you wonder a) is he serious? and b) is it a good idea if he is.

Davies is an avid Spears fan, and he has vowed take the British series’ production to Hollywood to accommodate the singer’s schedule.

It's quite enough to hear Russell T. Davies admit he was gagging for Britney Spears to appear on Doctor Who, but are we ready for Breastica Simpson to jiggle her way through scenes with David Tennant? Perhaps some prankster over at Starpulse is having some fun at our expense...at least, we hope they are. Their source says, "It's a great idea. Having Jessica on the show will help sell it to the US." Uh, do the Brits know what we think of Ms. Simpson over here?

Doctor Who' Producers Want Jessica Simpson Cameo

Jessica SimpsonJessica Simpson is in talks to appear in cult British sci-fi show Doctor Who, it has been reported. Bosses at the BBC are approaching A-list stars to cameo in the upcoming series in an attempt to add a touch of Hollywood glamor to the show and have contacted Jessica.

A source said: "It's a great idea. Having Jessica on the show will help sell it to the US."

Sexy Jessica Biel is also rumored to be on TV bosses' hit list. Biel - who starred in Blade Trinity and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake - was recently linked to Justin Timberlake after she joined him on a snow-boarding holiday.

Ummm ... Britney Spears Coming To 'Doctor Who'?
Not sure if Russell T. Davies is serious about this one .

The acting career of pop singer Britney Spears hasn't been the greatest. Strike that, anything about Britney Spears as of late hasn't been the greatest. But for whatever reason, Russell T. Davies likes what he sees, and told a British tabloid that he has a role just for her on "Doctor Who."

The Daily Star is reporting that Davies wants Spears to appear as a "raunchy bunch of sex-mad aliens," using special effects to create multiple versions of her.

"I'd love Britney to do it -- it would be so much fun," Davies apparently told the tabloid. "I'm not sure if she'll come to Cardiff where the show is show, so I'm nagging the BBC to fund a Hollywood special."

It's likely Davies is having a little fun at the Daily Star's expense, but there is no word from the Spears camp if she is interested ... or even knows where Cardiff is.

"Doctor Who" returns to BBC this spring, and is expected to hit the American market in the fall.

and unrelated scoop...

"Doctor Who" is currently filming its final block for the third season, which is reported to consist of episodes 7 (entitled "42" and written by "Torchwood's" Chris Chibnall), 11 ("Utopia," featuring the return of Capt. Jack Harkness) as well as the as-yet-untitled episodes 12 and 13 (both of which will be directed by "Torchwood's" Colin Teague).

Season Three is slated to commence broadcast in the early spring on BBC One.

I did hear that Take That fans were at RTD to get them on the show but this is a new one, and one that I hope does not come to light.

Although if given the choice of any of the above I would go with Jessica Biel.

This can't be real. It just sounds so far-fetched. :)

Russell T Davies does like to misdirect, so you just never know what exactly he's up to until you see the closing credits on episode 13.

Yes, and the whole of Mutant Enemy was in on the Season 7 won't be dark, and will return to the spirit of the early episodes thing, or the Angel Season 5 won't have any arcs thing.

But hey at least it gives us something to talk about prior to the show airing :D So in a way they still get what they want, buzz from the fans to keep the show in the front of their minds.

A clever little trick as well as trying to throw people off.
