Looking forward to many of these. Thanx for the research, prydain.

Not sure, but I think I might have already seen Ultraviolet. We had a great series on TV a few years ago, full of then relatively unknown actors, who've since made the big-time. It was pretty good, so I recorded them all, and it sounds fairly similar to the plot described below.

Actually, the place I got it from said the movie is not supposed to be based on the UK series. When FOX ordered the series, I don't know if it was the Americanized version of the UK series, or if it was dropped because the studio bought movie rights for it. What's the UK series about, besides the obvious vampire plot?

There are quite a few that I'm interested in:

Final Destination 3
V for Vendetta
Scary Movie 4
X-Men 3
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Beginning
Indiana Jones 4
Southland Tales
Young Hannibal

Mostly (pre- or) sequels as you can see, but I don't know enough about many of the other movies to be interested, when more details come out and I get to see some of the trailers, I might add more to this list.

The ones that sound interesting to me:

Bloodrayne
Underworld 2
Final Destination 3
Catacombs
Pulse
Brick
Silent Hill
X3
Pirates of the Carribean
Lady in the Water
Ghost Rider
Eragon
Beowulf
Minotaur
The Ordeal
Ultraviolet

When I see trailers for more I'll probably want to see more as well. Add that to the non-genre movies I'll want to see, and Hollywood is gunna be making a crapload of money off me next year. :D

I can't wait for "Running Scared". Anyone else heard of it?

Well, yeah, vampires figured pretty strongly in the plot. :) However, if I recall correctly (it was a while ago now), the Government had set up this crack team to eliminate vampires. I believe that, unbeknown to some of the team, they were being double-crossed and much of the series was set around one guys' fight to discover who was behind the double-crossing. I vaguely recall that he was also trying to find his brother, who'd gone missing, and the disappearance seemed to keep getting covered up.

I know that sounds a bit vague, but I subsequently looked up the main character on the IMDB and it turns out the series was aired here in 1998. (Unfortunately, the precis on the IMDB isn't a lot better than mine!) I've seen a lot of similar plot-lines since then, but I may end up re-watching it this weekend. If I do, I'll pm you a better version, OK? Lemme know if you're interested.

The Grudge 2 can be added to the list. Filming is (supposedly) due to begin in Tokyo this month, with a proposed Halloween release. SMG will be making a cameo appearance to "pass on the curse".

The next horror film I am looking forward to is The Fog, which although in cinemas in America some months back is not released here in Britain until late February. I know it got terrible reviews, but lots of films I like get terrible reviews and the original is one of my all-time favourite films.

I have found a HUGE list of genre movies - fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, horror - but most of them are ones that don't even have release dates yet, and I don't know which ones are being released theatrically or straight-to-DVD.

If there is an interest I'll put up information and try to sort through them. If I do it, should I simply edit the first post, or make a sort-of "Part 2" thread, since the dates are unknown and could possibly even be pushed back to 2007 or 2008?

Let me know.

Most of what I've read suggest that it's about economics. Hollywood is really struggling now and they see the best chance for success in films with titles that are instantly familiar, recognizable. Cuts down on marketing costs. Sad, but probably true.
