*sigh* You'll get over it...... :lol2:
I'm going to watch The Riches, too. Is that ok? I love Minnie Driver, I think she's hilarious.
No, I haven't. I haven't even heard of it. I just looked though, and it's available online. I'm loving online TV. Season breaks on regular TV don't even bother me any more.
So what is this Dirt thing. I'm loving obscure American cable right now. Is that what it is? Should I check it out? I'm halfway through Weeds, and looking for something when I finish with that one. Weeds is frickin great btw.

I watched the first episode but was kind of diappointed. I mean I didn't have high hopes but I thought I would want to keep watching, but I can't say I did... Then again, that Popular girl is playing a lesbian, so maybe it's worth watching just cause of that :) hehe..

It's pure trash, but kind of fun to watch. I keep trying to place the characters on the show in RL, you know? I know they're taking the storylines from stuff that really happens in H-wood, and sometimes you can guess, or think you can.....
n4h, it's a show starring Courtney Cox, she plays the editor of Dirt Magazine, a gossip rag. And she is RUTHLESS. So, of course, everyone hates her. Also, she works a lot with a schizophrenic photographer named Don....and he gets in to all kinds of weird situations.

I watched it to see what it was all about and it is pure trash tv yet I still watch it. The only character that keeps me watching is Don, I just want to pick him up and hug him. Especially with his most recent episode regarding his childhood and how cute is little Tristan?

I love Don, he's my favorite. Did you see him shock himself with the taser last week? Too funny. Don't you just want to take care of him, tho, he's so.....lost...all the time. Poor guy! Tristan IS a cutie. Isn't it amazing that he found another white cat, just like the one that died? I kinda like Willa, too. She needs to stand up to Lucy, but I think she's slowly growing some balls. I also like the publisher, can't remember his name. He's funny in an annoying way, you know? Like, you just want to smack him for being such a nancyboy. One of those characters you love to hate.

Miffed67 agrees: THey get it on in a later epi.....but it's a threesome, not just the drug dealer and Julia.
Oh I thought she was a real lesbian, lol, oh well, guess it's not really worth watching then ;)

Oh I thought she was a real lesbian, lol, oh well, guess it's not really worth watching then ;)
Which one? The drug dealer or Julia?
The drug dealer is a lesbian, but I think an opportunity just came up and she took advantage of it. The three of them were all getting high together and then the guy says that he wants to play, too (the dealer and Julia were kissing and making out) so then the dealer says, "Keep your d*ck out of my face," and, "she comes with ME." He agreed, so they proceeded to have a threesome) Julia isn't, she was only making out with the dealer because she was high.
I just finished the first one. "Like it" is hard to say. The characters are all such horrible people. Well, with the possible exception of schizo Don. Basically though the characters seem without worth. Did anyone get the feeling Courtney Cox was getting off some cheap shots at the rag mags for personal reasons.
Funny though. Although I can't say "like it", I find myself wanting to watch more, and it comes with a little guilt. Guilty pleasure wouldn't really fit, because I'm not sure there's pleasure involved.

Then focus your time on watching something that is pleasurable. ;)
I really, really hope FX cancels this. I don't think ratings are very good anymore and most critics loathe it. Sorry Miffed, but I think this is a waste of air space. I could never watch a show where I hated the characters that much. Why watch a bunch of people who don't even deserve to live?
Miffed67

Eh, if they cancel it, it will just be one of those "it was fun while it lasted" things. Don't apologize, tho....you're entitled to your opinion.

Yeah but I do feel guilty for bashing it so. I mean, I will watch Nip/Tuck. It's not a very moral show with very good characters, either, yet I feel like the characters aren't as worthless as on Dirt. And, as twisted as it is, some episodes of Nip/Tuck give some sort of interesting spin on a "lesson". :)
But the only FX Original Series that I *really* like is "It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia". That show, is hilarious.
Oh yeah, speaking of FX, I still haven't seen "The Riches". GAH!

I don't feel the characters are worthless. Some of them are people you actually do like, or maybe feel sorry for, namely Don. The rest may not be very likeable, but that doesn't make them worthless....or even very different from people I've met in RL.
I've seen a few more eps, and I'm right into it now.
Do the actors who play Holt and Don remind you of the actors who play Doyle, and Whistler from Buffy?

Don, maybe, but not Holt. I'm surprised you're in to it, but yayyyy! Who are your favorites? It seems like Don's a universal fave among viewers...but I like Lucy's assistant, Willa, Lucy's brother and the publisher, too. I like Holt sometimes, but sometimes I just wish he'd ditch Julia and it annoys me when he doesn't.
Is that Peewee Herman who played Lucy's drunken mentor - the writer? I liked him.
Dirt reminds me a bit of the stuff people like Tim Minear, and Bryan Fuller put out in that it's a mistake to judge it by the first few episodes, because the layers don't really start to peel back so you can get the characters until about the third, or fourth episode.
I seriously think this guy's a Buffy fan, who's behind this. I keep on seeing glimpses of stuff that reminds me of that series. Lines like "What's your damage?", or "highly functioning schizophrenic", which could have come from anywhere, but I know them from Buffy. There's other stuff too, like the whole redemption angle from Angel. In fact Lucy reminds me of one of those Whedon vampires, cause, ya know, there's the dark soul, but still, maybe there is that little bit that can be saved, but maybe not.
Yeah Holt warms on you, and the assistant keeps on surprising you with her depth. They had to make this show dark to show the corruption. I get that now.
Another way this show reminds me of Buffy is that it's deeper than the title name implies.

Yeah, I thought that was him, too, but I couldn't tell for sure. His name is Paul Ruebens, I should check that out at imdB.
I love that song, LOL!
You're right, I didn't get in to Dirt till around the third ep, I think. After the first one, I thought, "eh, I don't know if I'll watch next week," but inevitably found myself recording it. By the fourth, it was a permanent fixture on my recording schedule.
I like the darkness of it. I think Lucy's 'deadness' mirrors what all of us have felt at one time or another. I'm just waiting to see if she pulls herself out of it and moves past her father's death.....or finds out what really happened to him to cause him to commit suicide....and then gets over it...whatever. She's holding herself back from happiness and real relationships because of that one catastrophic event in her life. While she's not the nicest person in the world, I can feel sorry for her....I know what that feels like.
Edit: Just checked imdB....yeah, that was Peewee Herman....I loved his line about Willa wanted to be all grown up with her own byline!
I like Holt sometimes, but sometimes I just wish he'd ditch Julia and it annoys me when he doesn't.
Hehe. That was funny. I thought you were saying you wished he'd dump Lucy, and I just wrote out a big long explanation of why I didn't think he could do that, but Julia...yeah, I don't know. She might be Holt's shot at salvation if she ever gets her act together. Lucy will destroy him. It's the scorpion and the frog thing.
I think he was right when he came to the conclusion those worms in his stomach were trying to tell him something about Lucy.

Well, it seems he's walked away from Lucy, but we'll see how long that lasts. (Love the metaphor, tho, the worms eating him up from within. I'm not sure Lucy was the one that was meant by that message, tho, I still think he needs to ditch Julia. She's an albatross) Did you see last night's ep? I don't know if you're all the way caught up or not?
The last one I saw was the one that was spun from the Jessica and Ashlee Simpson story. It has my favorite line so far, "stupid is the new black". Funny these guys don't get sued.
I think it was ep 10 I saw last. How many are out there?

You're 1 behind. The one from last night is the week after the one you're talking about. Next week is the season finale, it's a 13 ep season.
Cool. If I go by Dexter then, I should be able to click on it as a stream online today, or tomorrow.

Okay, I was tempted a while back to start a thread on Dirt, but wondered if it was too 'dirty' for a thread. *L* But I love it, it's totally addicting. And for the 'worthless' characters, i actually find a lot more redeeming in even Lucy than most of the main characters on Nip/Tuck (which I am strangely addicted to also) But I think i more distinctly enjoy Dirt. I find it acctually less morally appalling. And find many of the characters to have more likeable qualities. I mean, seriously, in my mind, Nip/Tuck, the only moderately 'good' character is Liz. And the only other with redeeming qualities is actually, frighteningly, Christian. *L* (And I do love the bare ass shots of Julian *L*). But Michael i could care less, Julia makes me cringe half the time, and their son, well, EWWW! God, I can bare look at the guy's face he creeps me out and turns me off so much. There's actually a movie in the video store that looks otherwise really cute, but I'm not sure I can watch it because it's got that dumb ass son in it *L*.
Lucy is an amoral b*tch, but there are SMALL redeeming qualities to her, such as her fondness for the wonderfully crazy Don who I just love to bits *L*. The actor I enjoy, Julia though, yeah, she's just a train wreck that a plane crashes into and then causes a 15 car pile up. *L* Seriously. But the last ep *LOL* I was just smiling watching her writhe, that was great. :)
Okay, perhaps I'm a little sick and twisted, but it's a fun, kick ass, wonderfully addictive amoral show. :)
This so sucks. I've been watching dirt on YouTube in chunks. They give the first four pieces of ep 12, but there's no # 5.
Here's were I am. Lucy is sitting in her vault framed in a picture of Hell hanging in the background. Julia is kneeling at her feet vowing to serve her. Don has been on some secret mission for a hallucination of Marqui. Then what happens?
Edit
OK, I found it through a more reliable source. OMG, is Don going to kill Lucy? Then there's Lucy's stalker. Who could that be? Marqui would be the most obvious suspect, which makes you think it can't be him. Next one's the last one then, right? I can hardly wait.
Jennifer Aniston's going to be in tonight's episode I hear, and there's a Cox/Aniston kiss.

Right. Thanks to my insane Carly Pope crush, I decided to watch more of Dirt (only the episodes Carly's in though). And oh my god, she is crazy hot on this show. Like she's on the show for three minutes per episodes and I can't frakking breathe during those minutes. I don't care much for the girl she's all hung up on (the blonde one, Julia, right?), but she'll do just 'cause it's great to see Carly directing her attraction towards her. Wow. Heart Carly so much...
Oh and I was gonna say the show is actually alright. Even though I'd never watch it if it wasn't for Carly..
