Yeah, you know, I had been away from comics for years....since I was like, 12 in fact. But I'm getting into it again. If you were never really exposed to them as a little kid, it's probably less appealing. When the art is to your liking and the writing's actually good...comics are truly addicting I think.

I don't know if this one is just a lame attempt at a cash-in, or if it'll actually be good. May be interesing to get the backstory on John Winchester.

I gotta get Tales of the Vampires, speaking of...

I've never been into comics, I bought 1 (Up untill last week) And that was a pokemon one when pokemon was cool.

I always thought they were kinda too short to be any good, but after reading the Buffy one, it had a good amount in it, their was a good storyline that was well covered in one issue. And the art was amazing, like I keep looking through it just for th art. I wanted to read more comics, so I bought the Serenity ones and the TotS.

But I was suprised at how they can be just as entertaining as a tv program. I wanna get Runaways (Cuz of you guys talking about it!) and I wanna get Astonishing X-Men comics.

I would read a supernatural one, It's an intresting idea to go with. John was a good character and it would be cool to see him in action!

I was never a comics reader when I was a kid. By the time I was in fourth grade I was reading classics and high school level novels, lol. I was always reading because we lived in the middle of NOWHERE - no kids my age. So I've always felt like novels were...better.

I bought a graphic novel version of "Macbeth" last year. I find it impossible to read, it's hard to follow the action and it's hard to know which characters are speaking.

And one day I was flipping through a manga at the bookstore and tried to read a few pages (the stories start at the back of the book) and it was so hard my brain almost exploded.

I like, NEED someone to teach me how to read a comic book. lol

Yeah, there's no way to replace a great novel or a short story or a poem. A different experience. I don't think I've ever even opened up a manga book. I just hate the look. I always thought to check this book (http://www.scottmccloud.com/store/books/uc.html) out. Goes into the history, theory, how to "read" comics...

I always try to plug Y: The Last Man to people who don't "get" comics. The art's very traditional, not at all exaggerated, yet attractive. It's easy to follow the action cos all the panels are simple rectangles; you read from left to right, top to bottom, no surprises. It's designed for newbies, basically. And Brian K. Vaughan is one of the best genre writers working right now, IMO. The story's as sophisticated as any genre show on the air. The dialogue's on par with Buffy/Angel, I think.

Anyways, getting a little off track, lol...

goldenboy agrees: Except for, maybe...Buffy?

Well I haven't read the new one yet, but the old Buffy and Angel ones I couldn't get into at all.

Yeah, most of the Dark Horse Buffy comics are horrible - what I've read. Tales of the Slayers is kinda fun, I like the different styles mixed into one book - but the stories are so short. I tried to read a couple of the IDW Angel ones early on, but...blah...what's the point? They're not canon, they're not funny, the characters' "voice" isn't there. Maybe the Spike ones are better.

I loved Fray...that's what got me back into comics.

I'm not a big comics person. I loved the Archie Comics (and the ones from it, Betty & Veronica, etc) when I was in grade school and then didn't read comics for a while until they put out some X-Files Comics and I bought and read a handful of those and really enjoyed them. I'm definitely interested in this series. When it's out, I'm going to have to find out if that comic book store is still in that shopping center near by, and if not, where the nearst Comic Book store is and if they have the Supernatural Comics. *LOL*
