As the truth about Sun's kidnapping by "the Others" comes to her attention, Hurley becomes suspicious of Sawyer's attempt to reveal the mystery behind two fellow survivors, Nikki and Paulo. Through series of flashbacks we will discover what Nikki and Paulo were doing before the crash and how they survived 65 days on the island.

That might be one of my favorite eps so far. Really novel. Poor what's her name at the end when her eyes blinked open. Ooooooh....spooky.

Glad you say that, N4H, this was probably my favorite episode of the season. Yet, if you look on TV.com, the user reviews section...it has more terrible reviews than nearly any other episode. People *really* hate Nikki and Paulo. Why? They say it takes too much time away from the original castaways, but I personally LIKE meeting other "redshirts" as they used to call them. I want to get to know new people because the older characters start to get boring without new people to interact with.
Anyway, I REALLY enjoyed this episode. Nikki and Paulo's flashbacks were fun. It was cool that they made them out to be murderers and thieves...I still liked them though. I also liked the "twisty" sort of ending, but you know the only reason they did that was to please the fans who despise those characters so much.
As much as other fans may disagree, I want to get to know even more background characters next season. Even if they have to kill off current cast members to do so.

I liked the irony in this episode.
In their quest to first find the diamonds they stumble across the plane and Pearl hatch but tell no one. Then in Paulo's greed to hide the diamonds he overhears Ben's plan to manipulate Jack into doing the operation and warns no one about who they really are.
That scene also revealed the blond woman (her name escapes me) is not the person she is presenting herself to be to Jack. A future hint to a plot twist. Also where exactly did that tunnel they walked down go to? And where else does that Pearl station lead to?
If they weren't so greedy about the diamonds and had of told people about their discoveries events that happened could have had a different outcome.
So Nikki opening her eyes just before the sand hits her face to see herself being buried alive is so ironic that I actually had a guilty moment of pleasure. And no word of a lie I said to my wife they are not dead they are paralyzed. I figured it out because both of them had their eyes open and yet they did not look 'dead'.

It felt like an Edgar Allan Poe story, or...Twilight Zone. Felt old-fashioned - in the best way.

It was an alright episode but is wasn't the best. I liked how they mixed them in with the old lot that was cool. I don't like how they found the stuff and didn't bother to tell anyone - that was very unrealistic, they would have said something!
I liked how this two kinda quiet pop up every now and again hcharacters had this huge murder-robbery storyline that was cool!
I also wanna see more background characters, like I don't like how they bring in new characters and them kill them all off - it's just stupid! It's like they wanna kill of people but don't wanna off any of the main characters so they introduce new ones for the sake of being killed!
Hey tt what did you mean by:

Sorry BEG been out of town all week
Juliet (remembered her name) was standing beside Ben looking at Jack on the tv screen when Ben answered her question "how will you get him to perform the surgery?" And Ben answered "the same way I always do...I will manipulate him to do it."
So Juliet knew the plan and participated in the manipulation of Jack. So to me she is not the 'branded village pariah' she is still part of The Others.
