This show is coming to DVD in 2006. I'm thinking about buying it since I'm a big sci-fi/fantasy/horror fan...but I can't find it ANYWHERE to try out an episode or two to know if I'd like it. Is the show any good? Actually scary? Does it have good production values or is it like a small-budget syndicated show?

If you have cable or know someone that does, SHOWTIME airs episodes of "Poltergeist: TL" every Saturday under their "Showtime Beyond" banner. Not sure of the broadcast times, though. You can check the Showtime website for the details.
The show had some decent production values, on the level of say, a show like "Supernatural". It wasn't a terrible series by any stretch, generating some spookily fun episodes...although it did have it's share of clunker eppies just like any other show. I don't think you'd be dissapointed. Give her a spin, see what you think.

I just bought the first season of Poltergeist: The Legacy. Even though it says "Not Rated", apparently you have to be 17 to purchase it because it's a cable series. Hmmm. Good thing I had my liscence with me, lol. (I was at Wal-Mart and the old people card people up to 25. For a freakin' movie.) After I watch a few episodes I'll tell ya how it is. :D

OK I've watched the first two episodes.
Not bad. It could definitely be better though. Like a lot of sci-fi series it suffers from the occasional moments of way corny acting and writing, but generally it's entertaining and a fun way to spend an hour.
Quiet Cool is probably the third person to tell me that the production values are just as good as "Supernatural", but I beg to differ, lol. At least during the first season. In the pilot, which deals with fallen angels, the angels are basically these floating skeletons...they're so fake looking they resemble Casper more than any sort of menacing demon. (I personally think they should have steered clear of skeletons no matter WHAT the CGI looked like - I mean, what connection do angels and skeletons have?)
Anyway, if any of you guys are into horror/fantasy and want a new show to watch, I recommend this. Wal-Mart has it for a little over $20, which is a HUGE bargain, compared to what it's supposed to cost. The show has its lame spots but like I said, overall it's a good, entertaining show.
