WOW! Just saw the first two episodes and this show is decent. Will discuss after everyone else has a chance to watch it on Sunday.
It's just getting ready to start on the west coast. I'm taping it.

I thought the premiere was this Sunday...
It is, but it aired early in Canada. BTW. It's great. Poor UK and Australian people. They might have to wait a year through conventional channels.

I just can't bring myself to watch online. I'll wait, damn it all. Damn you all to hell! Heh. How does Drive belong in this forum, BTW? Cos of the conspiracy angle? Where's the sci-fi?

Yeah, I'm not sure Drive belongs in this forum, so I'm gonna move it to the Aliens Among Us. I'm kind of 'iffy' on this show. I like a few of the people who are going to be in it, however I'm not sure I'm 'on board' with the whole premise of the show. But I'll have to check out an episode and see what it's really like.
I think if you stick with it you're going to discover what it seems to be about, isn't necessarily what it's really about, so it's probably a mistake to discard it because you might think it's just a car race show. That isn't what it's really about.
If you can get into well rounded characters in intriguing situations, with great witty dialogue, performed by a talented ensemble cast with a charismatic lead actor, you can get into this one. Another thing about Drive is it's very rewatchable. There's a lot of buried stuff, and underlying significance.

Yeah, I intend to give it a shot anyway, see if I get pulled in or not. See if I can get into the 'whys' that people would do this. *L* Cause it's hard to tell from the previews.

Don't get too ahead of yourself, Miffed. You have like 22 hours to go. :)

Ahhh you shouldn't bottle your feelings it can lead to health problems you know.
As for the kicks 24's ass I think it needs at least a season to see if the intensity is there.

Well, even speaking pilot-wise. The pilot of "24" was mediocre compared to the pilot of "Drive".

I just watched it. Its pretty cool. Its a bit confusing at times, but oh well. If the rest of the season is like the first one it should be a good show. For all of those who actually watched on tv, was it just me or was there a lot of commericals?

I didn't watch it on TV, but I think shows like this always feel like they're being interrupted more. Lost, Alias, and similar shows always feel like they have twice as many commercials as other shows but they don't, the episode lengths are always the same.
I guess I'm the only one here who was completely blown away but I think this show is utterly AMAZING.

It was really good! I have to say I enjoyed it thoroughly! I was kinda iffy on the premise, but it really works...the characters are fleshed out nicely, I think, which helps with getting to know and care for them. The story was interesting and keeps me wanting more.....I'll definitely be tuning in tomorrow night and for the rest of the series.

Yeah, I already feel like I know these characters as well as any of the "Heroes". Actual personalities. This was a great premiere.
I like the slickness of it - something that's usually a turn off, I think. It works here. And actual opening credits, which is nice.
So...they get "trivia questions" to find the next leg, OK. The loser of each leg has a potentially nasty deed to do (that's a good twist). And teams will be eliminated if they don't succeed in all the particulars? (Like the next one: get to Rome, GA after sunset, but before dark, etc). I like that Corinna is basically trying to destroy the Race, get revenge as they go along here.
The little guy in the glasses who's the go-between for the racers to the organizers - his name is Bright, isn't it?
Doesn't Bright say the finish line is 400 miles away in Rome, and then they'll be told what to do next? What's that all about?

I assume he just means that that leg of the race finishes up in Rome, then they get their next cell phone clue?? You were thinking it's something more than that?
Yeah I was a little confused, because to me finish line means the race part is over, but I probably just heard it wrong.

It is a little hard to follow. We missed the Power Point presentation after all, heh.

I see two big 'mysteries' in this show that will probably come near the end of the first season because tv viewers are focused on the characters.
1. Who is running this race
2. How many more people have lost someone to this race and are trying to get to who is running the race.
The second mystery IMO can really take this show into some dark territory.

They're all doom and gloomy over at whedonesque. Apparently it didn't do so hot in the ratings. I wish they weren't breaking this season in half, that won't help matters.
They pretty much need a miracle Monday in the ratings, or we're looking at another Tim Minear 13 epper tops.
See...here's the problem I have with the mainstream. They're idiots. Me, I don't even want to share my affection for stuff I deem possessing quality with them. I'm quite happy fanboying cult stuff, but the problem is you need those reality show watching clods to keep your quality shows going. If Fox stuck with Drive long enough the duh-boys in the mainstream would eventually get it, I think, but if history tells us anything, it tells us Fox won't.
Oh well, as long as Tim finds a way to continue making these short classics I'm happy.

It was beaten by reruns of Deal or No Deal and Extreme Makeover, lol. I fear for America's youth. I guess all the action loving dudes are hunkered down with their Xboxes now...

I'm a little devastated by the ratings news. I think they should have premiered it after Idol though.

It lost to a repeat of Deal or No Deal? WTF?!?! That doesn't make sense.
I think it should do better tonight. All other high rating shows tonight are reruns as well. Though I don't know about the CW, but they are hardly ever that high in the ratings.

Have to agree with the above comments. N4H you win with the "reality show watching clods", it is eloquent and sounds a lot nicer then what I actually call, lol.
If tonights show did not grab the audience then let's just say they are dead from the neck up! What a car! Loved the darkness around Alex, not to mention the smirk. And what a great ending idea. A Drive-In!!
I really hope this show catches on because like I posted earlier the character info could take this show down some really different paths. Let's hope Fox uses some common sense and realizes that Minear fans will come thru and make this show a fan fave.

Fox? Common sense? Isn't that something of a oxymoron?
I liked the second ep, too. Loved the "cop" stopping behind Alex and Corrina and hauling him away. I was thinking the whole time, "uh...wtf?" NICE car, tho. Seems like someone really wants him to win the whole thing......
Edit: Did y'all hear about Drive being cancelled?
