It's worth quoting the whole story here.

Science fiction and fantasy series are well-represented among the new shows being ordered by the broadcast networks, the Hollywood trade papers reported.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that ABC has ordered Cavemen, about cavemen in 2007 Atlanta, and Pushing Daisies, about a man who can bring the dead back to life.

Fox, meanwhile, picked up The Sarah Connor Chronicles, based on the Terminator movies, and New Amsterdam, about a New York detective who is immortal.

NBC ordered up The Bionic Woman, an update of the 1970s SF show, from Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick; Journeyman, about a time-traveling journalist; and Chuck, about a young computer whiz who becomes a government agent after espionage secrets are downloaded into his brain, the Reuters news service reported. (NBC is owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.)

More series news is expected next week, as the networks unveil their fall lineups to advertisers and the public in New York.

ABC also picked up "Eli Stone".

I'm very stoked for Pushing Daisies. Several critics have seen it and they say it's very good. I hope it's leaked early. ;)

Does anyone think these shows have a chance of actually catching on? In 2005, the sci-fi experiment was pretty much a failure.

I think it depends on how they structure the seasons. True serials, like Lost, seem really tough to pull off. Yet I can't really imagine how The Sarah Connor Chronicles would work as standalones. Maybe they're on the run, constantly moving. I dunno.

Hope at least a couple survive.

I think New Amsterdam will be sort of like a procedural with serial elements...why else make him a detective. Yet there is an ongoing plot.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles sounds like a definite serial show to me. But with so many fans of the movies I think a lot of people will at least watch the pilot, maybe it will catch on. Although I must say it's the show I'm least looking forward to.

Pushing Daisies...I imagine that one will be structured like Wonderfalls.
