So, it's season finale time. Which ones have you seen/are looking forward to?
I haven't seen that many so far. Supernatural, which was pretty good but not nearly as good as I was expecting or hoping for. They could have done a lot better.
Ugly Betty's season finale was really good, it definitely made me want to return next year. This is a unique show, special even. I'm glad it's on TV.
I think that's actually it as season finales go...I have to watch the finales for The Office, Desperate Housewives, Heroes, Brothers & Sisters, and Lost. I have to say I'm the most excited for Lost. Every other show I watch I'm so far behind on that I won't get to the season finale until late summer. (Bones, Grey's Anatomy, Friday Night Lights, 30 Rock, Smallville, etc.)
I saw the Ghost Whisperer 2 parter. I thought the first one set things up great, but the second one kind of fell flat. They should have talked to me and Teen Titan. Our ideas for how to end it were much better. I wanted to kill off Jim, and TT wanted to bring back Andrea.
Was that the Season finale on Supernatural? That was so-so.
I liked the Gilmore Girls series finale. Nothing spectacutlar, but warm, and satisfying.
I'm kind of ruined for season finale's this year though. The networks can't hope to compete with cable TV's finales of stuff like Dirt and Weeds.
Lost and Heroes look like their setting themselves up for killer finales, but let's hope they don't do a Ghost Whisperer.

I think the season finales so far this year on most shows has been mediocre. Could this be the result of the long mid-season breaks? It killed Jericho (pissed at that one) and dinged viewers for Heroes and Lost. It's pretty hard to come up with two cliff hangers in one season if there is long breaks during the year.
The best cliff hanger for a season ender was The Class but it too got canned. I think this show got axed because it's season ended back in Feb and people have just plain forgot about it.

Agree, it makes me really happy to watch this show, and the season finale was just great :)

Hm yeah it was alright, still weird that it's over. I'm not really sad about it, but yeah, the last episode tried to be so much typical Gilmore Girls-ness, and I don't know how well it succeeded. Oh well, was okay still..
Grey's was... Good, but weird, everything just pretty much sucks for everyone right now. Heh.

I think the Grey's ending was more then weird it was very cryptic. When Meredith walked to the altar and said it's over was there a double meaning there? An answer to Derek's question about their relationship maybe?
George is definetly going to redo his residency because of the step-sister which as soon as I saw her hit on McDreamy knew it was Meredith's half sis cause I recognized her when she pulled her father away from Meredith when he banned her from the funeral.
The Nazi will be the chief of surgery and I don't know if the chief will be back now that he is with his wife again.
And I think Sandra Oh should consider the no eyebrow look. Man that is one bitch of a mother ol' Burke has!
The Smallville finale started good, then got progressively silly to the point I was literally laughing out loud at it. Actually that whole collection of scenes where everyone was somehow arriving at the dam was good for some chuckles.

Desperate Housewives was great!
I knew instantly that Bree was faking her pregnancy to cover up for her daughter (Mrs TT gave me a pat on the back for that one).
Loved it that Carlos got laid on Gabby's wedding day, does that fall under the something old category as well? lol
The woodland marriage was very nice but all the ideas Susan kept coming up with and Mike making the semi-sarcastic remarks was as if he was reading my mind...birds, chocolate and Susan?
Sorta dumb of Tom to throw the fired chef into Lynette's face all the time especially when he kept the daughter to be identified later a secret.
And who is going to save Eddy (how in the hell do you spell her name anyway?) from accidentally falling off the chair? Good thing that silk scarf helped break her fall or she could have broken her hip or something.
I'm totally excited about the Heroes finale. I hope its amazing.
I stopped watching 24, and switched over to Heroes. Heroes got better towards the end, where 24 started to drag. They'd better not cliff-hanger us on every story thread the way Lost does. Sometimes you need some resolution.

Aww, but you're watching the 2 hr blowout finale, yes? I'm taping 24, watching Heroes I think.
I'm saving all the final episodes of 24 for the summer when TV dies. I'll find them all online through Video steaming sites. Failing that, there are other ways.

I enjoyed the Desperate Housewives season finale. A few plots came to a close and you could tell they were setting up the fourth season, other than that though it felt like a regular episode, even with the "shocking" ending. I don't think DH is as good as it used to be, yet it's one show I have to keep up with. It's a very enjoyable show for me. I think I just like the characters a lot.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to the fourth season.

Volume 1 of Heroes was really good with lots of questions. Is Peter and Nathan both dead? Is Molly now part of Micha's family (sure looked like it when she grabbed Nicki's arm)? Is Molly's hero (nice touch) Officer 'name escapes me' still alive? Sylar is not dead and is he going to hook up with the man who looks back at Molly? When she said that I actually got a chill.
And just what in the hell is Hiro doing in 1671???
This was a good season ender and am looking forward to next year.
As for 24 I do not want to get started. My rant is over at the Buffy Boards.

Most people seem to be disliking the Heroes season finale a great deal. I can't say that I really blame them. It was unbelievably anti-climatic, but I didn't hate it. But it was far from exciting. Pretty average, actually. I am looking forward to the second season though.

I like the idea of calling the seasons volumes.
Anti climantic is a good way of describing it I guess but it seems a few of the series are like this. Do you think it might be because the writers had to come up with two cliff-hangers in one year due to these extended hiatus' and it was too difficult to do?
I liked the season's finale of Heroes. Everything was tied up, and they still left you wanting more. Killing off Peter Petrelli though, I don't know how smart that was.
However, all in all I found it pretty satisfying. I can live with satisfying.
I think my favorite finale on network so far though is the series finale of Veronica Mars.

They didn't kill of Peter...he can heal, remember? And...Peter *and* Nathan will be back next season. I got that from the TV Guide.com spoiler guy, it's in his column. :)
Well now that is interesting. I just thought - atomic bomb - how do you come back from that one? You'd expect him to be busted into atoms.
Come to think of it though, doesn't he say something to Nathan just before they take off about how, he might live, but everyone else would die. What happens, I wonder. Do all the sub atomic particles kind of gather together, or does his power go to another level where he can put a Sue Storm style force field around himself, and his brother?
Or does he get blasted into some kind of parallel reality. What's with the doppleganger Peter living at the black guy's house? Parallel Peter, or Peter after the blast, amnesiac, and seemingly without powers?

WTF are you smoking??? And pass it on dude!
How about this for an explanation... Nathan just throws Peter up just before he blows and does a 90 degree turn and zoom he's out of the blast radius of Peter. Remember the first time we saw him fly he went straight up then did a hard 90 to the right and the little boom we heard when he makes the turn means he broke the sound barrier which means Nathan is hauln' ass.
WTF are you smoking???
Only the best, man. West coast, remember?
Remember the last time we cast our prophecies on what would happen next in a series? We were both wrong. :lol2:
I must admit though, the Nathan giving his brother a fling thing kind of makes sense.
However, mark my words you're going to start seeing alternate reality, string theory style, sci fi storylines on TV soon. No, not like the alternate reality stories you're used to. Kind of, but different. I predict alternate reality on every TV, Sci Fi, mystery I can't make immediate sense of. Sooner, or later, I'll be right. ;)

Hey we were predicting an outcome on a chick series so we get a pass on that one.
Are you talking about the type of alternate reality shows like on STNG and Voyager? If so man they will really need to dumb it down if they try to make a series. A show or two is ok but a series? Wow hard sell.
I saw this show one time on, Nova. It might be THIS ONE (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html). In fact I think it probably is. I'll check it out later to make sure. It concerns string theory, and suggestions of alternate dimensions. Try the section called "The Wild West of physics".
Anyway that show was where I got the idea there are possibilities to alternate reality themes in fiction which haven't really been explored yet. I'm thinking alternate realities which can be walked through, patched together, controlled, and manipulated.

String theory? The thing that says stuff pops in and out of existence? Tell me, if something pops out of existence, how can it pop back if it doesn't exist? I think it's just an insane theory. That won't be popping up on crime investigation shows or soaps within the next hundred years.
Did you notice there's an episode of Heroes called String Theory (http://www.buddytv.com/articles/heroes/heroes-string-theory-recap-6079.aspx) ?
There's an episode of Angel called Supersymmetry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supersymmetry_(Angel_episode))
I'm not sure but I think the mathematical formulas Fred writes in Angel are string theory. Portals to alternate dimensions and such are the baby steps to the kind of fictional premises I'm suggesting.

What does that episode of Heroes have to do with string theory? Like, did anything relate to it? Or was that the episode where they found the string timeline?

Dude seriously put the BC bud down, lol.

I mention that episode to show you fiction writers are integrating the concepts of string theory into fiction. There was a time when you didn't hear about stuff like Wormholes, black holes, or even holograms, now you do. I suggest soon words like gravitrons, and branes will enter the screen writer's vocabulary, then our own.
But if you want to make a connection between the episode and the actual theory it's possible. String theorists are concerned about time, and consider the possibility of time travel.
Edward Witten is working hard on superstring theory, which has already created a sensation in the world of physics because it can explain the nature of both matter and spacetime. By realizing that the fundamental laws of physics appear simpler in higher dimensions, string theory can unite Einstein's theory of gravity with quantum theory in ten dimensions. Our heirs, whatever or whoever they may be, will explore space and time to degrees we cannot currently fathom. They will create new melodies in the music of time. There are infinite harmonies to be explored.

You make a good point but just because regular shows might acknowledge the existence of black holes, it's not like anyone knows for sure what they do and everything. But I find it highly unlikely time travel will ever be discovered, and unless it is and someone actually travels through time (I'd like to see how'd they'd PROVE that though) I doubt you'll hear much about it in anything other than fantasy/sci-fi television. But you implied TV as a whole, like everything from CSI to Ugly Betty.

The House final was not just a good show (wow dead for like a day then come back to life when they turn the switch off?) but now that everyone was fired or quit which way is the show going to go?
Boston Legal was so-so. The only thing I can see for next year is they ratchet down the Denny Crane crazy moments and give Denny some of his gusto back. Loved the "I used to be a captain of a spaceship" line when he was going into the elevator with Alan, LMFAO!
