Not sure how many people here actually even observe the holiday, but for those who do...what's your favorite song?

I have several that I love:

Carol of the Bells
Little Drummer Boy
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Silent Night
O Holy Night

Not a fan of those newer pop songs about spending Xmas w/ your significant other...*sigh*.

Oh, I love the Celtic versions of Christmas songs too. I'm very into Celtic stuff, lol. Everyone thinks I'm lame - or assume I'm gay, for some reason - because I *LOVE* Enya...I always listen to her to put me in a peaceful mood.

Well, I don't really 'do' X-mas anymore... and this isn't like a shot, but they do play this one sometimes during the holidays and it's hilarious...

I like "Grandma got Run over by a Reindeer" *L* it's funny.

"Jingle Bell Rock" is kinda fun too :)

And Adam Sandler's Hanukkah song is cool too, for holiday songs too... though it's not Christmas.

My favorite christmas song of all time is Do You Hear What I Hear. That song is beautiful. My second favorite is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. I also like Winter Wonderland. I have a lot of Christmas songs that I like but I can't remember.

Well, I kind of like 'Run Run Rudolph' by Chuck Berry and 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses...

But if we're talking about carols, anything sung by Bing Crosby does it for me.

Come now SING WITH ME, proper Chrimbo!!!!

I dont care what anyone thinks, i LOVE the christmas novelty song....not novelty like bob the Builder(Kept Stan by Eminem off the Christmas no.1 spot a few years ago...i know unbe-funking-lieveable) or Mr. Blobby or the Teletubbies.....but the festive Christmas ...ITS CHRISTMAS!!! by Slade, the above Avid Merrion Track, Proper Chrimbo, even Band Aid....'Well Tonight thank GOD its them, instead of you!!'...possibly the greatest, most poigniant lyric in any christmas song sang to perfection by Bono(does he remind anyone else of Zed from Police Academy in that song?)...feed the world indeed.....i do actually ask, on a personal note, i know you all like a christmas feast, with great sweets afterwards...but wouldnt a greater gift be spending £5 or $5 less and donating it to any charity that feeds someone...£5 pays for 10 meals for the homeless.......
Anyway back to the thread....I love the Lennon, Merry Christmas, War is Over track
or the Jona Lewie's stop the Cavalry,
Greg Lakes marvellous 'I believe in Father Christmas'
or the fabtastic, Fairytale in New York, by the Pogues, featuring Kirsty MacColl, who incidently, will have died five years ago tomorrow(18th Dec) so, i shall be lighting a candle for an extraordinary voice in such a fantastic lady.

Well tahts my bit...merry Christmas all, and to all, a good Night!!!

I'm with ya. I like the slightly somber, melancholy sounding carols. Love Carol of the Bells, God Rest Ye Gentlemen, Greensleeves, stuff from the Nutcracker...

Carol of the Bells
Carol of the Bells is an adaptation of an ancient Ukrainian folk song
called a "shchedrivka".* An arrangement by Mykola Leontovych (1877-1921)
was popularized in the 1930's by Oleksander Koshyts (1875-1944), a
Ukrainian choir director who worked in the US and Canada.* It has since
become an American Christmas classic.

Hark how the bells,
sweet silver bells,
all seem to say,
throw cares away

Christmas is here,
bringing good cheer,
to young and old,
meek and the bold,

ding dong ding
that is their song
with joyful ring
all caroling

one seems to hear
words of good cheer
from everywhere
filling the air

Oh how they pound,
raising the sound,
o'er hill and dale,
telling their tale,

Gaily they ring
while people sing
songs of good cheer,
Christmas is here,

Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas,
On on they send,
on without end,
their joyful tone to every home
Dong Ding dong ding, dong Bong
