If I recall correctly, the movie looked more expensive than $40 million. I think it looks interesting, but I've actually never seen any of those other movies that he mentioned.

I saw the boring as hell Solaris remake. Ugh. The original is considered by some to be one of the all time great sci-fi flicks. I hear it's also long and incredibly slow. Alien...barely even remember it. Except for the gross out stomach scene.
I'd like to see some epic Arthur C Clarke flicks...Rendezvous with Rama, Childhood's End...
Sunshine looks cool.
