I didn't know about this one, I knew you could watch videos and upload them on the regular MySpace site though...

What's up with all the YouTube competition? It's a little unnecessary. I can't see Google Video or MySpace TV beating out YouTube. At least not in the next couple of years.

Google owns YouTube. When they bought it media companies got scared. They worried about a Google monopoly in the future handling of copyright material. Also Google owning YouTube might legitimize unfettered distribution of copyright material. In other words they might lose control over how it was distributed. If you look at the old Fox site at MySpace, it had restrictive controls over how you could watch the programming. In general the problem with videos at the MySpace site up until this point was the setup wasn't as user friendly as YouTube.
