Hey whats going on over at the BB?? Everytime I go there I get the following message:

Our host has suspended our account for using too much of the server's resources. The site will be back up as soon as we sort this out. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Our host has decided that we use too much of the server's resources and is thus forcing us to move to another host. Which is bollux since we are a relatively small board. But anyway...that's what's going on.

Well it's going to be at least as long as it takes for me to pry a backup out of them (since I can't access the site myself to make one) and find a new host to use. Then to actually move everything over. Then while the domain propagates. So I would say probably at least a couple days.

I was going to move them soon anyway, since this host makes unreasonable demands on us, like blocking spiders from searching the site. And not letting us send emails to our users. But I would have rather not had to do it like this.

Well I got them to make a backup for me - however, sice I am on dialup I can't get the whole thing to download. So I have access to cable internet on Friday, so I should be able to get it then. In the mean time I'm looking for a good host, and a member here gave me some good suggestions. :)

I'll be moving this site over as well obviously, but I think I should be able to redirect things in such a way as there won't be much down time, if any. But if you come on and it redirects you to a strange url, that's why. (Because it will take a day or so for domain names to properly point to the new server.) :)

After-Darkness pretty much is the best. I'm a member of a lot of forums, but I come here the most, even though it's not as active as I wish it was. Plus, we have an awesome selection of smilies.

this is, like THE worst day for me!!

i logged on and, as i always do, headed STRAIGHT for BB...and they tell me the server is down...i sat there for a few seconds until i realized it had nothing to do with me.
so, i then switched over to CoA...and they tell me the site is closing!!!
and then i found my way here...so at least i'll get my fix for a few days until BB gets back on it's feet!!

So it's likely to be the end of the week when the BB is back up and running then? That's a pity because i'm going to be away from Friday until at least after christmas. Gonna spend christmas week down south with my girlfriend then we are back up here with my family for new year. Probably won't get much chance to post whilst i'm away so i may not get to see the Buffy Boards again until 2006. With that in mind i'd better take this opportunity to wish all my BB buds (and the other members of this board, of course, lol) a merry christmas and hope you all have a happy new year. :)

Oh finally a real explanation, not that it makes me less worried.. It's a bit freaky how weird I feel not having been on BB for more than a day. It's my home dammit...
I, like The Watcher, will be going away soon. Well actually I'm going home on Saturday. I might have super speed broad band there, I might also have no internet at all.. my parents are moving and I'll be staying in their livingroom for a few weeks..
I really hope this whole BB thing works out well, and I hope I'll be able to visit during Christmas...

aaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! Honestly, I think most of us would be having night terrors and profuse sweating. I'm seriously freaking out right now, and it's only been down a day!

I was flipping channels earlier, though, and saw that a repeat of Smallville was going to be on. I didn't watch it, because I had to cook dinner... but this might become dangerous! I'm going to have many more shows to watch now.

I'm just glad Vilandra(/Buffy Summers) created this board as well...for all us loser refugess from the BB!

Update time again: well it's been over 24 hours, and though the new host said I would get my account setup within 24 hours it hasn't been, which makes me very very nervous.

So I will be now looking for a backup and if it's not up by tomorrow afternoon I will be cancelling with them and going with someone else. As every other host I've ever been with (even the bad ones) have you up and running in less than 24 hours.

Right now I've pointed this site's url to the new server. So temporarily it's redirecting to the old server until I can move the files to the new one.

I'm having a little trouble restoring BB's database to the new server so I have emailed their support team and will hopefully get that resolved. The files and everything are ready to go so as soon as that is sorted the boards will be up.

Okay, as I said in Board News, this site (AD) is now on the new server. If some of your friends still can't see the open board, their ISP has not updated it's nameservers yet so they are still seeing the old site. They will get here eventually :)

I've gotten a new backup of BB from my old host and am uploading it right now to the server. It is a really big file so it's going to take a while, but then we should be good to go. I might need to give everyone a temporary url to use because I'm not sure how long it will take the new host to set up the domain to go right to the site.

You don't have to know about how the boards work - but if something isn't working for you (for the future) just describe exactly what happens when you do what. If it isn't happening to me, I need to be able to understand from what you say what it does to you.
