Seven demons, based on the Seven Deadly Sins, are released into the world and the brothers must combat them with the aid of a married Hunter couple.

What do you guys think of the demons based on sins thing? I think it sounds interesting...but it could be horribly cheesy and contrived. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I think I would like it more if it were spread out among the season - like 7 big bads. All in one ep sounds like it's going to be very rushed.

Yeah - ARE they are in this episode? I was under the impression they would be hunting them down over the season. Hunting seven demons down in forty minutes sounds like overkill.

Oh I don't know, I haven't read spoilers past this ep lol

Hopefully they will spread the 7 demons over the season, because like Prydain said, 7 demons in 40 minutes is overkill. But it does sound like that's what they'll end up doing, 7 demons, 1 episode.

So, has anyone seen the recent "Supernatural" episode (which aired Thursday on 4th of October)? I saw it but I don't want to say too much in case there are S.N. fans out there who haven't seen it yet. All I will say is: Wow ... Dean looked great (as he always does).

OK, who watched? It was alright I guess. Didn't exactly blow me out of the water like you'd expect a season premiere should. We've seen these types of possessing demons so many times now.

The new chick with the demon killing knife - that was kinda cool. Good FX.

Hundreds of demons released into 17 cities that have upwards of half a millenium in hell to 'develop' their skills. And there is a shortage of hunters (due to that pesky electrical fire at the Roadhouse) and Dean with a who gives a rat's arse attitude. Then some chick with shadow like abilities shows up with a buck knife (which I'm guessing is the companion piece to the colt) and knows Sam? And she can take a punch as good as she gives it not to mention she wields that buck knife with above average skills.
Well I thought it was a good opener. As for spreading the 7 deadly sins over the season ahhh no! I think with what was said in this episode it is a given that it is going to be a frenzied search, kill, move on season because there are so many demons on the loose.
I can't see every episode being an episode where the guys are outnumbered. But when other hunters are in the mix expect extra demons.
Overall I liked this episode. Dean was hilarious, Bobby really stepped up as a leader I can see him working out of Headquarters type scenario directing hunters to hot spots. Sam finally got put in his place by Dean so let's hope angst ridden Sam has gotten it out of his system because honestly another season of that and I will start to cheer for the demons.
I've got a funny feeling I'm going to hear Elmer Fudd singing in my head a lot this season...A huntn' we will go, a huntn' we will go, hi ho a merry oh a huntn' we will go.

Well back when we were discussing how they should have spread them out we didn't know what direction they were going, and I personally thought the sins would be working separately or something. But it turned out just fine.

I liked the season opener, it was cool. With lots of cool. ;)

My biggest issues with this show are the demons: Kripke said in a TV Guide interview that the reason they don't really do actual demons is because he hated the wendigo so I guess that's why they all are huge-ass clouds of black smoke or disguised as people. That's frankly a little annoying, I'd rather them try to do the occasional scary demon like they're always seeing in their research. It wouldn't be any worse than the black clouds...

Other issue is Kripke's passion for everything hick and blue-collar: it gives the show a uniqueness I suppose, but the hunters remind me of some of my relatives which is not a good thing. I'm glad Ash is dead simply because I don't have to see that mullet any more (although I liked Ash). :) Can we get some normal people every once and a while, who don't dress like they're from the 80s?

The blonde chick is awesome, BTW, and the scene where she was slayin' some demon ass was really cool.

Dean's new personality seems really forced in some places, I wish Jensen would play it more subtle. I rolled my eyes a few times...

Overall though, it looks like it's gonna be a good season.

Watch what you say about Tennessee Tophats Pry! lol. But yeah I wish Ash hadn't of died in the fire because I think his character could have played a big part this season. Using that high IQ grey matter to come up with ways to help fight the war.
I actually liked the way Jensen played Dean. It goes with his character over the last two seasons. The tougher the situation he's in the more he forces his character to be 'out there'. Besides if you knew you only had 1 year to live wouldn't you sorta have an attitude change? I know I would, the Sex Pistols said it the best "Sex and drugs and rock n' roll that's all I really need."
Besides I think he will tone it down over the next few episodes. The writers can't have him all amped up over the whole season if this is the "dream season" Kripke said it was going to be.

I've never really gotten used to how Sam and Dean are played though, they're ALWAYS a little forced but Dean was worse than usual in this episode. :) I know it's too late for them to change now, but still. They should try to make them more subtle.

And I wonder if they're even going to attempt to make it scary this year...I would settle for a bit of dictionary-definition "horror", which doesn't have to equal "scary", but I doubt we'll get that, even.

Did anyone find it odd that Pride called Sam "a prodigy...the boy-king"? On top of that in the opening credits the YED asked Dean is it the 'real' Sam that came back?
I think we are in for some interesting character development for Sam. Not to mention the Blonde with the buck knife who was recognized by one of the sins just before she plunged the knife into her chest. Don't kings usually have bodyguards?
Just thinking out loud...

I thought this was a really good season opener. The seven deadly sins made a very good enemy for the first ep...or was it just me and didn't they only get 6. Good introduction of that blond chick who saved Sam's butt. She looks like she's going to be a very interesting character.

It brought up some good points about Sam, or should I say it carried on the Yellow Eyed Demon's comment of 'Is it really Sam that has come back?'
