HBO has officially picked up the vampire series True Blood from Six Feet Under's Alan Ball, based on Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire novel series, Variety reported.

It's about time. I wonder if they'll pick up either Preacher or A Song of Fire and Ice now. I with they'd order both. HBO is in some desperate need of buzz.

Wasn't this a pilot from last year?

Yeah this has been in development forever...they ordered a script and then a few months later ordered the pilot, then SEVERAL months later have now "officially" ordered it to series even though it's been fairly common knowledge for a while that it was going to series.
