High School Musical 2 Breaks....a Lot of Records

Friday nights premiere of High School Musical 2 (I haven't seen either HSM) got 17.2 million viewers.

- That made the highest rated cable program EVER.
- That also made it the highest rated program on a Friday night in five years PERIOD.
- 10.8 million viewers stuck around for Disney Channel's sneak preview of some show called "Phineas and Farb". DC's second highest audience ever.
- 10 million stuck around still for Hannah Montana after that, making Hanna Montana the highest rated cable series. *gag*

I bet Disney Channel has already greenlit 10 new High School Musicals. :)

I find this rather impressive though. I wonder if it will help Disney Channel in the ratings now? Like will some of those people stick around? Or did women just come to see Zac Efron after that whorish picture of him on Rolling Stone?

I wonder how long before another cable movie/series premiere on cable manages to grab those numbers.

I only saw the first hour or so of the second one and all of the first one a few times. Personally, I don't really like it all that much, but to each their own.

And that's just crazy, man.

I did actually see some scenes yesterday, I forgot when I posted. I was at a friend's house and the younger sister had recorded it on their DVR and was watching random scenes. I got part of a song stuck in my head...all I can remember is it goes "Bet on it, bet on it..." blah blah.

I wonder if they'll air these on ABC now?

I didn't care that much for the first one, but my daughter loves it....she has a backpack and everything! Since she's 12, I guess that means Disney hit the mark on that one, huh? I'm sure she'll want to see the 2nd one, too.

My niece is a HSM fanatic, so I've watched it a bunch. I do like it, but it's not fantastic. The acting and singing is better in the second one, but I enjoyed the storyline of the first one better.

People LOVE these movies, I didn't see what was so great about them, but I remeber when the first one was on the DC over here, My 7 year old Sister Demanded to have the TV, and wouldn't take no for an answer!!
