I've not seen anything but I'll be watching out for it...thanks for the heads up :)

I'm wondering if it may be a US version of the strips that run in Doctor Who Monthly and Doctor Who Adventures, which we get over here. The latter is aimed at kids but it's the one we get chez Pointy, as I buy it for the grandson...I have to read it first to make sure it's suitable ;)

Now THAT is pretty cool...I wonder if they'd give us a copy so we can post a review :D

Lucky Doctor Who Fans. You get Pia Guerra!

PIA GUERRA'S NEXT PROJECT? “DOCTOR WHO”

On Friday night at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood, California, Joss Whedon and “Y: The Last Man” creators Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra celebrated the end of the critically acclaimed, 60-issue epic. And for the first time, artist Guerra teased her next project: IDW Publishing's “Doctor Who.” CBR News caught up with Guerra at the party to talk about the project.

Fans of CBR’s STUDIO TOURS already know that Guerra is an “insane” fan of the British series. “I used to watch the old Tom Baker episodes with my aunt in Toronto, they played them on TV Ontario,” Guerra said. “And then when the new series came out, I started watching those and fell in love with them. It brought back a lot of cool memories from childhood. And I feel totally blessed to be able to work on this new series, which captures a lot of people’s imaginations.”

Tony Lee is penning the series, and both creators have always shared a love for “Doctor Who.” The seeds of the project were sown at Comic-Con International in San Diego last year in a conversation between Guerra and IDW’s Chris Ryall. “And then I sat on it for 6 months until we got the go ahead, and finally this month BBC has given its blessing. We’re really, really happy about it.” The first issue is scheduled to hit stands in July. And stay tuned to CBR for a full report on "Y: The Last Party."

From the writer...
It's a six part arc / mini / Internet splitting extravaganza called DOCTOR WHO: THE FORGOTTEN. It stars the Tenth Doctor and Martha, is set before the end of season three and involved more than one Doctor.

And by that, I'm not on about Martha being a Doctor. Or that they bump into Turk from Scrubs. Or House, M.D.

Although that'd be an interesting episode...

I first spoke to Pia about this almost a year back when I was first speaking to Chris (Ryall) about the possibility of a Doctor Who tale. I mentioned her interest at the time, but it was so far down the line it was almost forgotten by me.

When Pia told me that she was on board, I was ecstatic. Like many people, I was a massive fan on her run during Y The Last Man and might have slightly gushed like a fanboy when I met her at last year's Bristol Expo...

But now I can finally tell people, which is great. And next month both Pia, her lovely husband and myself will be at the Earls Court press launch of the Doctor Who Exhibition where Pia and myself get to have photos taken of us in front of the (real, dammit!) TARDIS.

That alone, is worth it for me!

As for the story? I'm a die hard Doctor Who fan, both old and new. I had letters from both the second and third doctors. I've gotten drunk with the fifth. I've sung Karaoke with John Nathan Turner. I've stood by a Dalek at a book launch and fawned over Terrance Dicks like the second coming. Tennant is my favourite, Tom Baker my previous favourite. As I write this I have my signed copy of 'Who On Earth Is Tom Baker' next to my limited edition signed print of Jane Hudson's 4th Doctor design sketch.

That's not a clue as to who's in the book, by the way.

I'll be faithful to the Doctor Who series both old and new, and I promise that the diehard fan through the ages will find a lot to 'squee' about, while the new series fan will discover new facets to the Doctor that they never knew about.

And I put cash money down on the table right now - now that I can mention Pia being the artist - that there is a double page splash panel in the sixth issue that, when drawn and coloured will be made into wallpaper within hours of being printed, and will be one of the most downloaded wallpapers of all time. :-)

Big words? Hell, I know what the image is, and I'm shivering just thinking about it! Imagine Pia DRAWING it!

Ah, sorry - you'll have to wait and see...
