Tried searching for a thread like this but couldn't find one, sorry if there is one already. (Oh and wasn't sure on the forum, but I guess this can't be considered "General Sci-Fi Discussion".)
Do you guys watch anime? I don't that much actually, but I'm trying. I have a friend who tells me to watch all these different shoujo ai shows, and I have seen some of them and they're quite cool.. Just difficult to find.
Have you watched any anime shows, and which ones do you like?
(Are of course allowed to mention movies as well..)

A couple of years ago my one friend tried to get me to watch anime. I borrowed his Hellsing dvs and thought it was fairly good. even tho i didn't get to see all of it.

I used to watch anime a long time ago. Like when I was in seventh grade. I watched DragonballZ, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Tenchi Muyo. They were very good but the majority of them aren't even on TV any more.

Nah they don't show anything on TV in Sweden either.. Except stuff like Sailer Moon, heh.. I really like this show called Yami To Boushi [...].. But other than that I have only seen a few episodes of different shows.. But some seem really cool, I just have to practice 'cause I don't read English subtitles that fast, and they speak so fast in Japanese..

Um...I've never really liked the anime American television shows. The one I enjoyed the most was Sailor Moon. I hated hated hated Dragonball Z.
I downloaded Hellsing...it was *OK* but really really weird. I've noticed most anime is kinda perverted just for the sake of being so. Also, when you get it straight from Japan and just have direct translation, I find the flow of the story is very awkward compared to stuff we have over here...
However, I like the plots of a lot of them and am going to try some mangas eventually - like "Angel Sanctuary" and "Cross".

The only real anime I've been into is the film Vampire Hunter D :)

Yeah, to be fair most Japanese movies have quite weird stories :D I mean I don't always get why stuff happen, doesn't really make the most sense all the time, lol.. But it can still be fun to watch.

I love Anime.
Course I've seen the fair share of westernised things like DragonBall Z and Pokémon, but also the "real" thing.
SERIES
The original DragonBall series (sooo much better!). Hellsing, the vampire flick, quite mediocre. Trigun, really funny too; sorta like Firefly, a cross between SciFi and Western (have seen only parts of Cowboy Bebop, but that's a lot like it too.) Video Girl Ai, obscure small serie, nothing too interesting. Love Hina, really funny romantic comedy-series, I'd recommend this one for people just starting out in anime.
MOVIES.
AKIRA, thé anime movie really! Ghost in the Shell 1 & 2, together with Akira, the biggest source of inspiration for the matrix. Most Mayao Hiyazaki movies for Studio Ghibli; Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke. And for the vampire-loves, Blood: the Last Vampire and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.
I've already expressed my love for Neon Genesis Evangelion in another thread, but I'll gladly do it again. This series together with the movie End of Evangelion form the best piece of fiction I know... I love Buffy/Angel with all my heart, but they are no match.

I'm rewatching Hellsing again, trying to keep an open mind with it...I like it a lot more this time around. When you think about it, it's just cool. Kinda gross, but cool.

The only anime series I ever watched was Card Captor Sakura and I have Spirited Away on DVD. Although my cousin tried to get me to watch Dragon Ball Z but I hated hated hated it.

Mmm, anime.
I try to watch as much as I can, but I don't find most animes interesting and the ones that I do, I've watched all of them already.
What do you people suggest as a good anime?
I've seen all the InuYasha, Kenshin, Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist (including both movies), and.. I'm watching Samurai Champloo at the moment.
