Colo. School Bans Tag on Its Playground
Associated Press 08.30.07, 6:08 AM ET
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
An elementary school has banned tag on its playground after some children complained they were harassed or chased against their will.
"It causes a lot of conflict on the playground," said Cindy Fesgen, assistant principal of the Discovery Canyon Campus school.
Running games are still allowed as long as students don't chase each other, she said.
Fesgen said two parents complained to her about the ban but most parents and children didn't object.
In 2005, two elementary schools in the nearby Falcon School District did away with tag and similar games in favor of alternatives with less physical contact. School officials said the move encouraged more students to play games and helped reduce playground squabbles.

Am I odd in that I find this truly sad and pathetic? C'mon!

Yeah....god forbid the precious little darlings should play a game where they might have to interact with other real human beings, eh?
Perhaps the Principals might better spend their time vetting students with mental health issues, rather than banning a game that's been played for thousands of years? Hmm?
Jeez - the PC brigade wind me up sooooooooooo much!!!

*sigh*
How much more stupid and pathetic can this world get? I mean, seriously. I think we're gonna end up like that movie "Idiocracy". :)

WHy don't we just sit all the kids down in front of a television during recess? That way they could get no exercise at all...

^ And no social interaction, either!
Oh, I know! Why don't we set up individual classrooms in ea. home, then the students could attend classes via satellite!

I actually thought the title of this thread was about banning tag the body spray. The thought of banning a kids game never even entered my mind but now that it has...What kind of mamby-pamby, tree-hugging, berkenstock wearing pinheads are we allowing to take over the world!!!
And seeing as how there is no F'n running game out there that DOESN'T involve chasing another kid does that mean the school is going to put huge hamster wheels in the playground for the kids who want to run?
I think some of these school principals need to put the bong down when they go to work!!!
If you could get a kid from an earlier era (say 50s, 60s,70s, or even 80s) to spend a week in this one, I wonder what he'd think. I think he'd come home crying to his mother screaming, "Don't ever, ever send me back there!".

Hmm. I think if I were in grade school today I'd have been expelled several times over, my parents would have somehow lost custody for neglect...and the nuns at our school would be doing hard time for child abuse (Sister Hillary actually rapped my knuckles with a ruler one time. She was hardcore, old school, heh.).
Edit:
Hey, do kids still "skeech"? Whenever there was a heavy snowfall, I remember classmates would run up behind moving cars, grab the rear bumper and basically "ski" for a block or two—till they wiped or got caught or whatever.

Never heard of that but that sounds fun, lol.
Yeah, I don't imagine you have a lot of snow sliding in Mississippi, do you?
You know what's really fun? When you grow up a little, and you get to drive in it.

OK, this isn't real skeeching, cos they have actual equipment. For authentic skeeching, It's just you, a car bumper and a pair of boots with worn out treads. Looks like a blast though.
