I guess it's pretty uncool to admit this, but I've just sat and watched High School Musical 2 on the Disney Channel with the kids I'm babysitting this evening. It's cheesy and it's very american-teenish, but man, can those kids sing and dance.
I've always loved a good musical (it's in the job description you see :)) and all three of us sat and thoroughly enjoyed this one. The music isn't really my cup of tea, but they all look like they're having the time of their lives performing it and it comes across as a really feel-good movie. I can see it doing well if it gets released in the cinemas over here.
They're all very talented, but Zac Efron stands out and I can see him going a long, long way in that business.

I don't think these are the best of the Disney TV Channel movies, despite their success, but I do enjoy them. I like the songs from the first one better, but the second one is much better done. Ashley's singing and acting have vastly improved.

Disney Channel used to have some really good movies, well, for TV movies, anyhow, back in the early 2000s and such. I've seen parts of both High School Musicals. I have nothing against them, and I like the fact that they're successful movies just because they're more for the family, but I can't really enjoy 'em.
my sister is a huge fan of the first movie, and when this one aired in the UK on Friday, i just happened to be looking after her and the little kid across the street (i'm convinced it was a set up)
got to admit, though, i did enjoy it. it was good to just sit and veg out and not have to really concentrate on the plot.
they have all greatly improved from the first movie, especially, as Vilandra said, Ashely. i actually perferred the songs in this movie to the last one, but each to their own.
and, side note, Zac Efron played a young Simon Tam in an episode of 'Firefly' just to tie in a little Sci-Fi reference, lol.

I spotted that on the IMDB too. Trouble is, I've now got to go through all my eps to find him. :D
