This is disappointing, if true, for those of us who plan to be around in 2009.

Fifth Doctor Who postponed
Updated 17.57 Tue Sep 04 2007

A fifth series of Doctor Who will be postponed until 2010, fuelling speculation about David Tennant's future with the show.

It means there will be no new series in 2009 while Tennant plays Hamlet with the Royal Shakespeare Company from July to November next year.
A special Christmas episode starring Tennant and Kylie Minogue will be broadcast in December

He will star in three Doctor Who specials that year instead.

When asked if Tennant would be returning for a fifth series, A Doctor Who spokeswoman said: "It's too early to comment."

The Cassanova actor took over from Christopher Eccleston after he quit after just one series in 2005.

The fourth series, which is currently being filmed, will see Tennant with new assistant Catherine Tate, who follows on from Freema Agyeman and Billie Piper.

A special Christmas episode starring Tennant and Kylie Minogue will be broadcast in December.

I trust Davies with Tate, I worry about the Kylie Minogue thing. I don't want to see Doctor Who get too camp. Not that it would ever happen, but what if Davies said to himself, oh what the Hell I'm leaving anyway let's do a Doctor Who musical.

Do you remember back on Tennants first full episode, The Christmas Invasion, he did a wonderful monologue - yes, you remember it was the opening to Circle of Life!!!

Doctor Who revels in the camp:)

Ohh and don't be dissing the possibility of a Genre show doing a musical because I think we can both give the same example of one done to almost perfection:)

Tate, i'm all for because Davies, so far, has not let me down on casting.
Even when i've doubted(Billie Piper) he has been right.

Except we've seen her on the show already, and I don't think I can take her yelling week to week lol

I really liked 'The Runaway Bride' and I think she'll be alot more like the Donna at the end of the episode with a hint of the screaming occasionally.

Davies has yet to let me down, so I'm giving him B of D.
