This was discussed some in the show development thread but I thought it deserved it's own.
I'm really really really stoked for this show. I was worried that it would suck at first - but after seeing the movies and reading about the show online I'm not worried anymore - I hear the show has a huge budget. Plus David Goyer - from the movies - is staying on for a head writing position and the executive producer! Whoo hoo!
I just contributed everything I could possibly find on the show today...I better get enough points to be editor! I really want to edit it, I thought the movies kicked ass!

Huh? What do you mean by this?
And, I'm still afraid the show is gonna suck.

Oh...at TV.com, you get points for contributing things to shows - like show summary, episode summaries, cast, crew, etc.
Once you reach 80 points you become the editor, if there is already no editor. When someone becomes editor, you must beat them by 80 points to get the guide, which rarely happens because the editors control what is submitted.
Why do you think the show will suck if you liked the movies?

I thought the movies were entertaining, but not good... I can sit through a bad movie that's entertaining, but I'm not gonna sit down in front of the telly every week for a bad, but entertaining show.

lol I didn't think the movies were bad at all...a little corny but great action and good storyline...I liked it just as much as Buffy. Well, nah. But close.

I'd put the first Blade movie in the same league as "The Mummy". A fun, entertaining flick well made. No deep, memorable themes or characters, but lots of fun comic book action.
Some movies just aren't aiming very high—but they hit their target.
The second movie seemed darker, more depressing. Had some total kickass fight scenes. Can't remember, I'm thinking there was some woman in a black ninja getup battling Blade, really amazing.
Didn't see the third...

What network is going to develop it? Any rumours of cast members yet?
I think the show might make it if they play off the third movie. The looseness of Reynolds and Beal kept the viewer from breezing out when Snipes was being way, emphasis on way, to serious about his character.

I think it's gonna be on Spike TV, ain't that right?

Spike? That's a lot of money for a network on the edge of extinction to be shelling out wouldn't you say?

They're developing NINE new shows. Blade's their most expensive one.
I think their new dedication to make shows people might actually want to watch could save them. :)

What a concept! lol. ABC managed to figure that out somehow.

Yup.
Let's just hope Spike doesn't order "Afro Samurai" to series...*shudder*

Well UPN launched itself with Voyager and WB went with Angel and Charmed and they are both turning into good alternatives to the big 3. Maybe Spike is hoping for the same? But like I said they better have a good writing team and not make the show too dark and serious.

I personally hope it IS dark and serious...well, not COMPLETELY serious cuz it could get corny. But I hope it keeps the same tone as the movie. (which did have some humor)

Dark and serious works for a two hour movie but for a weekly show? You would need a hardcore fanbase and if Spike wants to get on the tv map I think that would be a bad way to take a series. Like I said earlier use the 3rd movie idea and run with it. Ofcourse the language would have to be tamer but it would work as a dramadey.

Maybe only as far as "The X-Files" is a dramedy - dark and moody with funny scenes here and there. If they made it a light dramedy than it would LOSE the fanbase it has - the movies and comics already has a fanbase. Making it a light dramedy would absolutely ruin it for the fans. (Most of them.)

OK the movie Domino was released on DVD today and they had a trailer for Blade the series on Spike coming in June! I don't know the name of the guy who is playing the lead but his last show he played Smoke on Over There (an FX show).
Just looked up the lead's name Kirk "Sticky" Jones

Alright...I just watched a trailer and I gotta say it looks good...everything except that "Sticky Fingaz" guy...whose acting looks atrocious. But this is nothing shocking. And in the movies I thought the supporting characters were always better than Blade so I guess it's the same.

I just read that each episode will have a budget of $2 million. Is that good? Average? Below average?

no clue
im really hoping its not sucky because the movies were good so the show should be good. i know this is completely unrealistic but it woulda rocked to have snypes in it. granted, that probably means the show wouldnt have been made purely because he himself would make $2 million alone, meaning the show would be expensive. but hey, i can dream

OK 6 shows into this series and I still don't know about this show. The storyline is unique. Ash as a street drug and vampires trying to develop an invincibility drug. Interesting story decent dialogue.
The acting of some characters is good but Sticky needs a lot of work. Especially in the fight scenes. There is no 'fluidity' in Sticky's fight scenes. It's obvious that Sticky has yet to learn how to work a sword because I really can't remember any sword fighting scenes. Blade is supposed to be a finesse fighter who fends off the attacker waiting for his chance to strike. Sticky stands there like a bull and that makes it look like he is going to loose the fight. Just look at last nights fight scene in the train, very rough and awkward looking.
How sad is it that secondary actors are better at fighting then your lead?
