Sad news this but Pterry seems to be taking it with his traditional good humour...
I know it's a very human thing to say 'Is there anything I can do?' but in this case I would only entertain offers from very high-end experts in brain chemistry.
There's a little more detail about his announcement on BBC News - BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Author Pratchett has Alzheimer's (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7141458.stm)
Seems like bad things keep right on happening to good people...I speak with authority here as my Mum once met Terry when he gave a talk at the school where she used to work and declared him to be a really nice man...she didn't mention it to me or my brother until after the event...probably the best course of action as we would've weighed her down with books for signing...

I've read only half of one of his books - I can't get on with them at all - but I wouldn't wish what he's got on my worst enemy. I feel most for his family, who'll have to watch the person they once knew disintegrate before their eyes.
