Well what an eppy ! vast imp from last year and James Marsters did a good job, and the look on John's face was priceless when found out Jack's ability.

I liked the 3 rules about John 1) Always keep him in front of you
2) never believe anything he says
3) never let him kiss you.

Which brings me to another piont, if that was true, why didn't Jack get affected by his snogs? and why did the writers fail to take note of this when John doesn't know about his never dying? If they kissed he would of been piosoned!
Anyway this was a vast imp and the trailer has me wanting more esp as we see Martha in action!

Excellent episode though, not that I am not already a big fan of Torchwood anyway. James was excellent, but then again, when is he not?

I'm really looking forward to the future episodes and learning more about Jacks not so angelic past. The clips afterwards looked really great! At last some decent TV on our screens!

I reckon everybody probably already knows that I'm a BIG Torchwood fan, but I thought last night's ep was brilliant.

Not a big Torchwood fan here. Lots of nifty bits, but overall I feel disconnected from the characters. This one's my favorite ep so far though. Hope they build from here, and it wasn't an aberration. Can't wait to see Martha again.

never watched Torchwood before...i don't even watch Dr. Who, but i tuned in for James and i was actually surprised that i liked the sho, not just the ep, which was fantasti. James was excellent as always. he had a little of Spike's attitude, which probably made me like him more! lol
i'm gonna tune in next week, just to see what Capt. John was talking about as he stepped into the potal!

I liked this season opener a lot. I thought it a great improvement on last season's finale. James was excellent as Capt. John and I'm looking forward to his return.
I felt that Torchwood were really starting to work well as a team for the first time, rather than the collection of flawed individuals from last season...a result of Jack's absence perhaps? The scene in the taxi was nice btw.

One thing I thought I'd mention, just for fun. I felt a little guilty about not being able to kick it into fan mode with Torchwood last season. I thought maybe I wasn't giving it a fair chance for superficial reasons, like maybe my homophobia was kicking in, and I wasn't giving the whole Jack being bi thing a chance. I know I thought that ep with Jack slobbering all over the original Jack Harkness was stupid. Also, although I liked the Jack character in Doctor Who, I didn't like those insinuations that maybe the Doctor was going to swing that way.

However, it turns out there may be hope for me. I didn't mind the Jack and John, kiss and tussle scene at all, in fact I thought it was kind of entertaining.

This was the first episode I'd watched of the show. I'm definitely thinking about getting season 1 on DVD to catch up. I don't get the love interests though, Gwen loves Jack (it appears) but she's engaged to Rhys and she had an affair with Owen in season 1 (I've read episode guides). Jack seems to like Gwen but asks out Ianto and definitely has a think got John. It definitely keeps you on your toes.

As far as episodes go this was a very cool opening episode for the season. James was great as John.
