View Full Version : Why, Supernatural writers, why????

Okay, so last night was the first night in two weeks that I was finally able to watch my beloved, "Supernatural" (due to circumstances beyond my control I have been unable to watch more than five minutes of the show). Anyway, so last night at nine o'clock sharp (that's what time it comes on where I live) I had everything ready: my snacks, the lights turned down low and candles burning (it makes the show much more fun and spooky, I suggest you try it sometime) and then, I get to see "my" boys, Sam and Dean. Man oh man do they look good ... I missed them very much ... ahhhhhhh .... anyway, back to the point. So I begin to watch last night's episode and about ten minutes into it, I was severely disappointed at how ... idk what to call it ... bad the episode turned out to be. I mean, c'mon! A sea captain's hand is missing; two brothers are pissed at each other and are hunting others because of it; people are puking up water ... did anyone else get flashbacks of that other movie (I can't think of the name right now if my life depended on it). I mean, a twelve year old can come up with a better idea for a storyline than that!! I know the writer strike sucks and all, but ... you're doing a bad job, Supernatural writers. The only enjoyable part of that episode was when that old lady kept feeling up Sam ... honestly, it was great! I just hope that next week's episode will be better than last night or I might have to write a "strongly worded" letter to the station about this little problem. Anyone else agree or has this been going on for the past couple of episodes?
That one's a rerun, so I have the advantage/disadvantage of looking back at it. The first word that comes to mind, viewing it as a memory is unremarkable. The only thing that sticks out for me, was that bad girl/Gwen Raidenish character, and I'm not sure if I'm pro, or con on her. Again, unremarkable.

I do like that femme fatale chick, can't remember her name. I like the back and forth between her and Dean. And I loved the look of the ghost ship, when it first appeared. But the drowning attacks and that whole ghost story...kind of silly, really.

Her name is Bela. Most fans absolutely loathe her but I think she's a breath of fresh air for this show, she's great. And she can actually act, unlike Jared Padelecki.
I actually liked this episode, it didn't stand out, but I didn't think anything was wrong with it either, it was no better or worse than the average episode.

Bela has the potential to be sort of like Lilah, from Angel. The enemy that you're supposed to hate, but then the writers slowly create an interesting, sometimes vulnerable character. She's not that yet, but she could be.
But yeah, she's like a more vicious, amoral version of Gwen Raiden right now.

I actually like Bela. I like the bantering that goes on between her and Dean. Makes it kind of interesting. Maybe there's a future between them, eh?

I personally like the episode, it wasn't the best of the season, but most episodes of Supernatural are 'good fun' in my opinion. There's a few episodes where parts kind of 'irk' me on occasion. Season Three I obviously haven't watched as much, as no DVD yet. *L* But season one and two I've watched over and over, and yeah, some eps are weaker than others, but none truly annoy me. Perhaps I'm just 'easy to please', I don't know.
The old lady hitting on Sam was hilarious. And Bela does seem to be that wrench in the whole scheme, but she's a fun wrench. *L* I find her fun and amusing. Because this was a rerun, I'd seen it before, but did watch it last night, and there are definitely layers to Bela that haven't begun to be stratched. I so want to know about who in her family died because of her, and what the situation was. Clearly she's carring something about it. Very defensive, and never did tell the guys who or what, just that they didn't know the situation. I'd love to know what happened, and I hope it's something they'll come back to and reveal more about later on about Bela.
