lol I laughed so hard when I opened the off-topic discussion and saw one word - "porn"

haha

I won't say I haven't seen it but yes, it's rather degrading when you stop and think hard about it. And sex seems like a rather personal and "sacred" act, lol. I don't know why you'd want the world to see it.

lmao i dunno i just started to think of it and it started to make me mad so i posted i mean i dont see how people can do that put on a show for the camera. Even if its just gonna be personal

Vilandra

Well when the actors are "working" - it's not really a personal act to them.

prydain

True, but I'm saying that it SHOULD be, lol. But that's just me.

So, I assume that by extent you don't believe in casual sex either?

BTW: What is the age limit of this board? Is it supposed to be family-friendly... in other words PG-13 too?!?!

prydain
12-30-2005, 12:06 PM
Vilandra said it's not as strictly "family friendly" as the Buffy Boards are, lol.

What do you mean by casual sex?

Like...two random people just having sex for the heck of it?

Allycat
12-30-2005, 12:55 PM
Yes, sort of. Well, I don't know what the definition is, but a friend of mine told me she was in favour of it. You know to enjoy sex with someone, but not have a relationship. Just enjoying that moment, no string attached.

prydain
12-30-2005, 01:56 PM
Hmm...well I don't think *I* personally would do that. I mean, it's not really because of my religious beliefs or anything, but I personally think I would benefit from waiting, I don't want to get into a sexual relationship until I find the person I want to spend the rest of my life with...I'm not that hung up on sex...I dunno, I'm weird.

Honestly, I can say that I'm "against" porn. I've had a long discussion about this at BB, and this topic upsets me a bit too much to get into that kind of discussion again ;)
But two main reasons
1) I think the whole sex-for-money thing is a bit weird, heh..
2) The wrong image of sex porn gives young people who watch it......

I don't mean to be sarcastic, but the answer is simple....money. Lots of it.

Well, my guess is that that's why most people wouldn't ;)
I sometimes say that I'd do anything for money ('cause hey I need money lol), buut nah I wouldn't do that.. nope...

I couldn't do it either. Some people aren't as modest as the rest of us...

What is surprising to me is when I see a graphic sex scene performed by an actor or actress who doesn't need the cash. What is their motivation?

Hormones maybe?

true they could just really like sexual pleasure, and maybe the camera gives them an extra stimulation boost or something.

I guess its just difference in opinion, kinda like most females i know WILL NOT watch porn, Although a guy will watch it 24/7 like a television show lol
Ah yea, but there are many reasons for that, I doubt it's just the opinion thing ;)

Well, I'm not like for or against porn... I think that if people want to have sex and let other people watch it's fine with me (I don't HAVE to watch it)... The thing about porn I don't like is when the actors are "forced" like poor girls making porn just to get the money... that's sick... But I have nothing against famours porn actors who have loads of money... that's their own business (again... If I just don't have to watch them :wave2: )

But in a way porn is maybe necessary... I know this is sick, but I think it keeps many weirdos from raping other people and stuff... like getting they fantasies out in a more harmless way... but I don't know...

Porn is a very difficult subject to discuss... and very taboo... :erm2:

It also gives many weirdos creepy ideas though ;)

But yeah... you're right...

Some of the world's finest psychologists still don't agree whether fiction and is an outlet or a fuelsource for people's fantasies (be it sexual or aggressive or w/e)... so, I don't think I'll dare to discuss that.

However, exhibitionism and voyeurism, which are estentially the two main ideas behind porn, are two of the most common paraphilia and in most cases they are quite harmless. So, I don't think there is per say something bad... but not per say something everybody should be into.

Of course, I think it's horrible that some people do it only because they can't make enough money to take care of themselves any other way, but that's a different story.

Anyway, given the fact that pornography has been around in one way or another for many millenia already, I suspect that it will continue to exist for quite some time still.

You know what, there's always another way. Working at McDonald's is another way. So I don't think that "they had no choice" is a real argument.

This is going to sound really weird, but for those of you who are adults lol, you should watch HBO where they interview porn stars about themselves. They are actually quite interesting to see how people get into this line of work and why they stay in it, and why they actually like what they do.

I've never met any porn stars, but I have known a few women who worked as strippers (and no....I won't say how well I knew them). In almost every case, the primary reason was financial. There just aren't very many jobs (legal jobs anyway) where a 20 year old woman can make hundreds, or even thousands of dollars in a single night.

I recently saw an interview with Charlize Theron that is somewhat on point. She will do nude scenes, but she retains strict control over what makes it to the screen. If she thinks a scene goes to far, she has the right to pull it out of the movie.

My friend - who's 19 now - actually got a job illegally as a stripper and worked for about five months. Just because she was so lazy she'd rather get nasty with a pole instead of flipping burgers - like Vilandra said.

Has anyone heard of that Showtime series Family Business? lol. That's somewhat along the lines of what Vilandra was saying. It was erm, interesting, but I don't think I'm going to watch it again. :)

I see your point V, but I don't think that the minimum wage (or lower) an attractive young man/woman is going to get working for McScummald's is really going to compare with the money they're going to make doing what comes pretty naturally in front of a camera, do you? :) While I agree that there is always another way, I don't think this particular one is much of an option is you really need to make a lot of money in a short time.

I personally don't have a problem with porn, although I don't find a need for it myself: I'm lucky enough to still fancy my OH enough to get all the stimulation I need there. I can see where it might come in useful if a relationship has reached a plateau, but only if both partners agree to experiment with it - either watching it, or taking part.

What I do have a problem with, however, is that so many young men and women find themselves getting involved in doing that kinda stuff in front of a camera to make enough money to finance a drug habit. For that reason, more than any other, I don't really bother with it.

Well, if they happened to have husbands who left them and are now stuck with a child they can't support on just McDonalds?

While I *do* agree with you that there is ALWAYS a choice... for some that choice (in the example above, giving up a child for adoption) might be even harder than working as pornstar, stripper, or hooker... which then doesn't mean we should just conclude that it's all their own choice.

I think you're oversimplifying the issue.

I definitely believe there are situations in which you "don't have a choice". However, most people who decides to work with this kind of thing, probably had a choice.
