From tv.com
During an alien emergency in London, a woman called Donna Noble must search for an old friend who can save the day - a man named the Doctor. But can even the Doctor halt the plans of the mysterious Miss Foster?Doctor Who (2005): Partners in Crime - TV.com (http://www.tv.com/doctor-who-2005/partners-in-crime/episode/1166297/summary.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=episodessh&tag=episodes;title;0)

Superb stuff...any reservations about the return of Donna that I had were completely blown away here. A very funny ep with great performances all round. A worthy (and hilarious btw) season opener.

That was just plain fun, that was. Smiled from beginning to end. Oh, except the first bit with Donna's grandfather. Warm and fuzzy stuff there. More like ahh...

Adiposes are cute. I wonder what they grow into.

I was kind of sorry to see Miss Foster come-upanced. As villains go she wasn't such a bad old broad. I would like to have seen her again.

Don't you think they rely a little too much on the sonic screwdriver sometimes? It almost makes you wonder if this Doctor could do anything without it.

And agreed, Rose rocked me too. My jaw dropped to the floor. I'm still picking it up. :)

 on Tate as Donna the new companion.

The thread on BB about the 4th Series, reminded me how much fun it is to discuss new episodes of shows like this.

I got my girlfriend and another good friend of ours to watch this episode with me. Unfortunately it wasn't the most accessible episode to new viewers; I guess I should've gone for the Christmas special, although I don't think I could've persuaded all my in-laws to watching with me. Still, I'm hoping that they'll give the series another chance.

I myself have to say that I didn't think this episode was particularly brilliant. Especially after a 13-episode run of Torchwood getting from bad, to okay, to actually pretty exciting, this episode was a bit bleak. One of the problems I think was that Donna and the Doctor were separated for too long. We all knew that they would be reunited, so it wasn't an exciting will-they-won't-they situation. And because they were separated and couldn't share intel they both had to investigate the Adipose-situation and had so much plot-related stuff to do that they didn't really have too much time to be funny or anything really. The moment they finally did see each other was good though.

I get your point about the sonic screwdrivers N4H, in this episode it seemed like you could do anything with it.

The one thing, or should I say person, that stood out this episode was of course Rose. I knew she was coming back, but I didn't expect to see her face already. It was a pleasant surprise though.

Donna's grandad has an interesting Doctor Who pedigree, which I thought you might be interested in...
...much loved Brit character actor Bernard Cribbins has already played an assistant, albeit in the 1960s Peter Cushing film version of Doctor Who.
Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150 AD - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daleks_-_Invasion_Earth_2150_AD)
The Cushing films were distinctly non-canon...before we had even heard of canon :)...but great fun when you're nine or ten :)

Copied and pasted from the SFX forum and BB's and LJ;

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rose, doomsday tune and fading like the cybermen in AOG's is the crack bet both worlds a natural occurance as a result of the evil plan by the season finale villain?
She didn't look happy, I guess it is part of what she is doing, and happening, all linked as the Dr Who people have said to Donna's life story unravelling (Actually It was on Ross said by DT himself) as the arc like Bad Wolf.

Anyway I was glad he admited he treated Martha badly and made some mistakes, and ACKNOWLEDGED she had a good affect on him! I hope he repeats it to her next time he see's her.
The constant missing eachother was quite funny, and their conversation was hilarious, through the windows, then realised they were spotted.
the Big letdown was the way in which it ended, an anticlimax with the problem solved by Donna conveniently having the other pendant on her and the nanny being killed without a big whoha after the evil plan is defeated. *sigh* If only miss Foster had up a tiny plackcard that had "Help" on it before falling ala WileCyote style it would of been quite hilarious.

I like the ominous signs that follow without the two's knowlege like Rose appearing and dissappearing, which kept the eppy's strengh, otherwise it was ok, with Donna's hilarious bit handing her suitcases to the Doc which made me chuckle a lot!

I've just noticed a typo in the air date - it should be 5th April :) Can someone edit the thread title please?
