Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) come to the aid of Sam's old college buddy after he is accused of a murder he swears he didn?t commit. The brothers discover a shapeshifter is adopting the likenesses of others and murdering people. The brothers' race to stop the shapeshifter takes a terrifying turn when he shifts into the likeness of Dean.
The episode was written by John Shiban and directed by Robert Duncan McNeill.

This was a REALLY good episode, in my opinion at least. I didn't think it'd be that good after hearing that it'd be a Shape-shifter, and normally the special effects they use for 'shape-shifting' isn't that great...but the episode totally proved me wrong. I missed maybe the first 15 minutes, and got home right when Sam and Dean were walking in the sewers the first time (I suppose), when the shapeshifter first appears and hurts Dean's arm.
The writers did a really good job at keeping it as gruesome as possible, when the shapeshifter was turning into Becca after getting chased by the police, I almost had to look away from the screen! I absolutely loved the fight scene between Sam and the shapeshifter (As Dead), it was really well done; and the dialogue between the two was great. It was awesome how the shapeshifter captured Becca as well, that was a twist I wasn't expecting.

I completely forgot to record this episode and missed it. Arrg.
This shape-shifter.....is it one of those so-called "Skinwalkers" that the boys mentioned earlier in the series?

No, according to what I known/have read about skinwalkers, the most common 'cases' and myths about them are that they were certain native american tribes who, during different rites and ritual's used to wear the skin of animal's and such - later believed to 'shapeshift' into the animal that they were 'wearing'. At least that's what I read about them, a very long time ago :o.
This episode's "Shapeshifter" was much more original, they didn't really specify what it really was. But according to it,He was once human and normal, but hideously grotesque and ugly, so he 'learned' to become other people.. It really didn't give much detail, but the effects they used on him were great ;). (I loved the eyes, heh).

Was a better episode than I thought it was going to be. I wonder how (and if) they're going to deal with the fact that officially now Dean's dead lol

I really liked this ep, the special effects on the things transforming was so cool, the bit where it's teeth fell out was so gross!
That song at the start was so funny, cuz I immediately thought of the Simpson’s version!
