Nope. Have you?

I have some slight interest just because people were predicting it would suck beyond belief.

That means I'd probably like it. lol

Nope I haven't seen it - it's only at one theater here in Times Square. So I just wondered if it was good at all before I went. :)

It's got an interesting cast. I know it's got what's-her-name, the female terminator from T3. And that Ana Lucia chick from Lost...and Ben Kingsley!?! Meat Loaf, Billy Zane, Michael Madsen. This sounds like the makings of a good Tarantino flick...

Why do all the trailers for this movie look so...D-list? lol. They're so ghetto. Even the announcer is bad.

[Uwe] Boll continues to secure investors for the rights to future videogame-to-movie adaptations, despite the controversy surrounding his products. His investors are mostly German. He carefully secures the rights for potential future adaptations, afterwards doing all of the actual production himself, and swiftly finishes the product.

Movies directed by Boll have not achieved the kind of box office returns one expects from a typical Hollywood film. The House of the Dead broke $5.73 million and "Alone in the Dark" made over $5.1 million. A Boll film is usually made on a relatively tight budget in places like Vancouver, Canada.

In the DVD commentary of 'Alone in the Dark', Boll explains how he funds his films:

"Maybe you know it but it's not so easy to finance movies in total. And the reason I am able to do these kind of movies is I have a tax shelter fund in Germany and if you invest in a movie in Germany you get basically fifty percent back from the Government."

Despite their generally negative criticism, his movies attract a sizeable cult following, similar to other "bad" directors such as Ed Wood, to whom Boll is frequently compared. Viewers who have little exposure to the source materials, and thus judge the movies entirely on their own, often find them as enjoyable as other low-budget science fiction movies. In some cases, Boll has made use of experimental or unusual directing tricks, such as inserting clips from the actual video game into House of the Dead, which simply turned out not to have the positive impact they were intended to have. Also, while Boll's movies tend to be poorly received by critics, they do not typically generate the level of disdain that accompanies movies such as those on The 50 Worst Movies Ever Made DVD or Roger Ebert's most hated films list.

I've never seen a Uwe Boll movie. Seems like a clever businessman, anyway.

I haven't watched it either. I saw two of Uwe Boll's previous films...."The House Of The Dead", and "Alone In The Dark",...and they were just ABYSMAL. So I'm gonna stay far away from this one until I can gauge other people's reviews.

European governments subsidize like crazy. :) Unfortuneately it doesn't usually help the people who really need it.

But anyway...is House of the Dead the one where the people go to the rave on an island?

Yep, that's the one. If you saw that flick, then you have my condolences. :p

The house movie? I almost bought it once thinking it was something else, then I later looked it up, read some reviews and viewer opinions, and thanked God I didn't get it. lol

That and House of a 1000 Corpses are both like the most inappropriately named, horrible horror movies I've ever seen lol

You hated House of 1000 Corpses too? I unfortunately saw The Devil's Rejects (the sequel) which was the worst movie I've ever seen. I despised it. The only reason I agreed to go with my friends is because they invited a really hot girl.

Bloodrayne 2 is in production right now. :)

I was thinking that was sarcasm on your part. Oh brother (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0896036/). I guess if the 1st one was profitable...

Hmm. From some joe schmoe talkbacker at IMDB...

According to Romar Entertainment, the distributor for the first film, Bloodrayne made $2,405,420 at the Box Office in the US and $1,186,560 at the Box Office overseas for a whopping lifetime gross of $3,591,980!

The film's budget was a few dollars shy of $25,000,000 USD. Those who financed it lost over $21M at the Box Office! The DVD sales were horrible, too! And they give #2 an approval!

I just want to reiterate that I am not that hard to please, so if I say a film is bad...

But it's a new cast so there's hope. It's not a bad premise, so if they actually get a good script and actors who can act and a director who knows what he's doing, it could be good. But probably will be straight to DVD.

Seeing as I trust your judgement, and you know what I like i'm going to avoid this ;)

You know, I LOOOOVVVEEE Michael Madsen but he was so bad in this. And I don't think he's a bad actor normally. Even now, I really want to like this movie lol. I think maybe they just got a shit script and shit director.

A bit like Beowulf and Grendel then, the movie was boring but Gerry's performance was good. Hence the reason I sat through it.

Vilandra

Except Michael Madsen's performance was not good at all lol - no one's was.
